you guys wanted a bold move, you got it.

The Guardians announced that they acquired Brent Lillibridge from the Red Sox for right-hander Jose De La Torre. The Guardians transferred Lonnie Chisenhall to the 60-day disabled list to create roster space for Lillibridge, who was recently designated for assignment by Boston.

Boston acquired Lillibridge in the trade that sent Kevin Youkilis to Chicago last month. Lillibridge, 28, has a .165/.212/.177 line in 86 total plate appearances this year. He has a career batting line of .212/.279/.351 in five seasons with the Braves, White Sox and Red Sox.

De La Torre, 26, posted a 2.91 ERA with 9.4 K/9 and 3.4 BB/9 in 55 2/3 innings for Cleveland's Double-A and Triple-A affiliates this year. He had signed with the Guardians as a minor league free agent in January.

The good thing is that Lillibridge is gone. The not so good news is that we got a career minor leaguer. This is a fair trade for the most part. De La Torre is 26. He will continue to tear it up in the minors. Now hopefully we can make a move that will actually have an impact on our Major League team.

De La Torre had TJS in 2008 and missed a whole season. His peripherals look pretty good and his overall MiLB numbers are very good since the surgery. He could turn into a really good pitcher.

Kevin Youkilis for Zach Stewart and Jose De La Torre. The rebuilding process has begun.

Zach is pitching like crap again in AAA. We got 2 names for Youkilis for Cherries to save face. Better to have gotten nothing for him and sent him to the NL. Yes, yes , broken record. I know. The White Sox are no longer leading their Division, but they are ahead of us in the Wild Card standings.

Don't forget that name De La Torre. I'll bet that we can build our staff around him someday--- the janitorial staff.

At least Cherington is focusing on important stuff, like getting rid of that cancer Lillibridge.

So why did we pick the White Sox to trade Youk to? The return for the risk wasn't up to par. I'm sure the Dodgers would have given us a pile of s***. At least we could have lit that on fire and put it on the Yankees door step.

I don't believe he is as bad as you make him out to be. His strikeouts are down, but he has averaged 7.3/9 strikeouts at triple A and 2.45/9 walks. He has potential. The guy pitched a one-hit shutout last year in the major leagues.

I hate these kinds of deals.

1. They never amount to anything.

2. It's always for some RP that has ok stats, but no one really thinks he's going to be anything. But then you have all the people who look at the stats and go that you just got yourself the next Papelbon.

3. You resist at first, your mind says No way. He'd be lucky if he's not pitching me super size over medium at the local drive thru in 2 years.

4. But then you follow him, just to see.

5. Stats look good, throws 90 mph, but maybe that slider is just nasty.

6. Man, he can possibly be good. Do we have something? Should I release Cherrington from the trunk afterall?

7. He's getting called up, oh snap, here we go. Possible closer? Should I pick him up in a 12 teamer?

.

.

.

.

After 5 appearances and an ERA over your BMI, you see him on the DFA list.

Always set yourself up for disappointment, even though you knew this was the outcome from the start.

I just can't comprehend the fact the Cherington decided to waste the day yesterday trading Lillibridge. Some teams were working on get Hanley for absolute garbage and Ben thinks it's necessary to focus on that.

This is an excellent point. If Cherries spent more than 5 minutes on this, he was wasting his time. This guy is getting lost in meaningless details like Lillishit and he is missing the boat.

Not saying you are not right, but where does it say that he spent any time on this trade? I admit I didn't read about it till after the fact. I don't know what he is doing, or what is really available for what chips he is willing to deal. But then, I am not an insider like many on this board.
