as long as we give up Mauro Gomez and Mike Aviles i am completely fine by it. once Pedey returns Ciriaco should be at SS. i think this is another move that we missed instead of sticking with Nick f***ing Punto.

Ciriaco is a better defender and has a huge plus side on offense. I am enjoying every bit of him right now.

otherwise i dont want a pitcher. Cook is somehow doing okay and so has Morales so the no 4 and 5 spots are not the issue here, its Lester/Beckett and I am feeling a lot better after the last few starts we have had but downside is that we faced TB (putrid offense) so cannot judge our pitching on just TB starts.

our real test was Yankee series and we found out what we were made of. but we were still injured. getting Ells and Crawford has been huge. cant wait to get Bailey back.

looking forward to the stretch and hoping we can get Felix, if we give up Barnes/Aviles/Bard i am all for it.

In order to get Felix I would give the Mariners Iggy' date=' Bard, Cody Ross and cash.[/quote']Not a chance. Ross is on a one year deal with us.

Then Jack Zduriencik would laugh at you and you'd be the GM that everyone points and laughs at during the winter meetings.

Iggy, Bard, Ross, Barnes, Bogaerts, and Cecchini might get it done if we took back Figgins

We'd all do that every day and twice on Sunday. Seattle will not trade us Felix unless they get a serious package in return.

I don't even think the Mariners would give that a thought. No way is that enough to get Felix. Unless the Mariners feel Iggy can finally start to put the bat on the ball consistently at the MLB level. I'd say add a Barnes or Bradley to that deal then they'd think hard about it. I wouldn't give up Bradley personally, but that's the only way they'd look at making a deal with those 3 players.

Barnes/Iggy/Bard/and Ross doesnt make any sense so maybe Aviles .. i would pull that trigger

You think Aviles would be the missing piece in that deal?.. I said adding a barnes or bradley would be the only way to get them to consider it, because they would want prospects

Aviles because they dont have an offensive quality SS. and they are getting both ends with Aviles and Iggy. they can round robin till Iggy gets ready. and if he says i need Bradley, we sway in between to give him like a Lin type player...

Bradley Barnes Iggy Bard.. hmmm might be worth it.

I dont know man Bradley is a stud. You make a good point with the *If aviles screws up bring in Iggy* and I wouldnt be against involving Lin in that deal at all. However, with that said I think the Mariners would still say no

The mariners are going to say no to anything EXCEPT a hugely in their favor win....they think Felix is worth the world.....sad thing is, they are probably right

Agreed, They look at him as the best pitcher in baseball, which he probably is. Think about this, if he was in Detroit, Boston, New York or Philly in past season he'd probably have 20-30 more wins. If he had been on a winning team since his debut when he was 19 he could have been on pace for 300

dont get me wrong i love Bradley jr. he has the attitude that is needed badly in this redsox dugout.

they are right. And like I said before, the Yankees offered Betances, Banuelos, and Montero in the offseason when all 3 were top 50 prospects. And the M's said no

You guys are crazy. Why would the Mariners want our trash?

They would want any combination of Ellsbury/Bard/Buchholz with some higher tier prospects like Boeggarts, Lavarnway and Iglesias.

They are in no rush to deal him, and he seems to be comfortable playing in Seattle. Why would they take anything less than a blockbuster or talent?

#Cubs still working to trade Ryan Dempster ASAP. One source says Red Sox are officially out on Dempster, still in on Matt Garza

Good that we are out on Dempster. Hopefully by tomorrow, we are also out on Garza. They do not improve us over what he already have. No need to waste prospects on s***** rentals. No more Jeff Suppans please.

Garza has a longer contract and is way better than Suppan. Still don't want him unless Beckett is involved.

Olney reported at 9am on sportscenter. To sum up his information' date=' Garza is most likely our top possibility. Dempster is likely for either LA or Cubbies[/quote']I assume that you meant to say White Sox instead of Cubs.

CHICAGO -- The Los Angeles Dodgers have proposed a trade for Chicago Cubs starter Ryan Dempster, a baseball source told ESPNChicago.com on Thursday.

The Cubs have been clear their top priority on the trade market is adding young pitching. It is unclear whether Zach Lee, the top-rated arm in Los Angeles' farm system, is included in the offer.

The Cubs appear to be making contingency plans in case a Dempster trade is completed. A major league source told ESPNChicago.com that talks are fluid and the team is preparing to have replacements in St. Louis this weekend in case a deal is completed for the veteran starter.

In what could be the first move of an active stretch, the Cubs acquired pitcher Justin Germano from the Boston Red Sox for cash considerations Thursday. In a corresponding transaction, right-hander Jairo Asencio was designated for assignment.

Germano, who turns 30 on Aug. 6, is 8-20 with a 4.91 ERA in 80 major league games. He is expected to be with the club on Friday in St. Louis. Right-hander Casey Coleman also reportedly will be on hand to pitch in case Dempster is traded or Germano has any travel issues.

Dempster represents a valuable trade chip for the Cubs. The 35-year-old has not allowed a run in his past 33 innings, spanning five starts. His 1.86 ERA is the lowest in the majors.

Dempster has 10-5 trade protection rights, meaning he must approve any trade before it can be executed. He is making a prorated amount of the $14 million he is owed in the last year of a four-year contract

They have a good shot at Garza--what with the working relationship Epstein has with Cherington.

My guess is the Sox get final dibs on offers for him. They might have to match somebody else.

Theo knows which prospects he wants.

As far as Felix goes, I see the Sox keeping either CC or Ells--not both. If CC gets dealt, they'll push hard to re-sign Ells. If CC stays, they might package Ells for Felix. Lester could also be involved here. There is also talk about Vargas for less pieces, but Vargas isn't better than what they have now. Looks like Hamels will re-sign in Philly, who will give him his $20 mil plus per year.

Dempster supposedly will be traded today.

I don't know much about Garza, what kind of pitcher he is besides having a fiery temper.

But since he has AL experience he could be good for us but if the Red Sox don't acquire him I won't be upset. I just hope Lester turns it way the f*** around.

Also, King Felix is a dream. Can't see that happening in Cherries first year.

Garza is solid. Has an awesome slider, doesn't work that deep into games but he never really get injured. The stats say he's sightly lucky this year with his 4 ERA, but generally I think he can give us 3.6 ERA without missing starts for the rest of the season. Not an ace but about a number 3 pitcher for a contending team.

I'm a little reluctant to give away any real pieces for him, it's probably going to be a tight clash to the wildcards but with or without him even if the team makes the playoff I don't see them getting ahead the ALDS. I'll rather see a big move during the offseason, after all the surplus salary leaves (Dice, what is left of Youk, Jenks etc').

I actually think that the Sox could get away with trading off pieces that will not hurt that much to get Garza. I would bet that they could trade away pieces that are to some extend duplicitous even as prospects plus one painful prospect. That could be fine since the Sox would in Garza get a pitcher that would still be able to help them next year as well and when you are as far down on starting pitching as the Sox are, it likely takes more than one move to bring their starting pitching up to speed. Make a move for a midlevel guy this year and try to get an ace in the off season.

Sure I would love to see them get an ace this year but the options are limited, the cost will be high and there may not be as much opportunity to move some of the other pieces (like Beckett) around.

I know that a midlevel 3-4 type as a starting pitcher might also seem duplicitous but Felix for one is going to run out of innings. Morales probably does not have that many innings in him. Cook is fine but there will be no middle road games with Cook. Any game where he is up in the zone he will get crushed....any game where he can stay down the whole game, will likely be a "quality" start.

I'm starting to back off a bit on garza. Grienke is a question mark right now and the chances that Hamels is getting dealt are dwindling. Garza's slowly becoming the top option on the market and he's only going to be something of a #3 man so I'm wondering if he's gonna be worth what the price is going to wind up being. I really don't want us to put our top guys on the table for someone who's not an ace, is gonna be making 12 mil next season, and is trying to get us to a 1 game playoff.

Don't get me wrong, I'd still love to have him here but I hope Ben backs off and says no go if the price gets too high. I'd rather take my chances with our own top 3 getting it going than giving up high end prospects for a number 3 man.

Hell, maybe see what the twins want for liriano.

He's never been a staff ace, but he has had some very solid seasons. This season he is not pitching very well, so they should not go over-board to get him. I remember seeing him at some Spring Trainings when he was with the Twins. He had the ability to get inside on our big hitters like Manny and Ortiz and break their bats. I thought that he was pretty impressive in that regard.
