Oh really. You ever tried to catch a high-flying baseball with the sun in your eyes? Not as easy as it looks' date=' champ.[/quote']

Not much sun in Scotland.

But the Oakland players seemed ok with it today, and they were on the same field.

This is so stupid. You gonna blow this team up after every bad series or road trip?

Yeah this is a first for this team, they haven't been trash all season

I was surprised to see Cook come back for the 7th. He was leaving a lotta' pitches up in the zone, seeing to many balls head for the outfield. He did do his usual very professional job even without his best stuff though.

Team as constructed does not play well in these close, tight low scoring games. Need better defense. Aviles is now only hitting 264 with a 700 OPS and both continue to fall. While Iggy is not trying to hit ML pitching, Iggy is at 250 and 588 and plays much much better defense.

You need starting pitching, defense and situational hitting in games like this. The Sox today do not do any of that well. The Sox as they are today are not even competitive in games like this. Of these seven games, they played one typical Sox game and won it...not a surprise. They played six games like this and lost five of them to go 2-5.

Not at all sure they will get another arm but whether they do or not this group of players is not going to play better in close tight low scoring games. Ells and CC will help some but as the season wore on last year and Sox had more close, tight low scoring games the Sox did not fair will then either and they had Ells and CC.

Our starting pitching is a bit better than it was last year but is still the major weakness on this team. We need to field a lineup that is at least competitive in these pitching dual kinds of games. The difference now between Aviles offense and Iggys offense is no longer great enough to afford Aviles defense in the most important defensive position in baseball especially given the makeup of this team with its various strengths and weaknesses and especially now that we are getting into the second half.

We don't even compete in games like this. It looks like we are because they are low scoring games but in truth we are not even competing in games like this.

Are you going to tell me we are going to leave Iggy in Pawtucket and keep Punto on this team? Punto is an empty uniform. At least Iggy gives V some flexibility to field a more defensively oriented team.

May not work but I have resigned myself to the fact that in close tight low scoring games the team as configured now does not work.

Unacceptable. I don't care how many issues this team has.

This road trip was an absolute disgrace to watch.

As a baseball fan, about the only thing worse to watch than a perpetually losing team is a talented team that manages to beat itself on a regular basis.

It was the nail in the coffin Doc. Look, lest folks here get the wrong idea, I too want this team to win rings every single year. But for whatever reason this version of the Red Sox is likely going nowhere this year and nearly everyone realizes it. Its frustrating; its maddening; its plain unacceptable. But thats the way it is.

Truthfully, right now these games have little meaning for me other than the kind of entertainment video games provide: cursory meaningless white noise. The real issue is what to do about this team, not whether we are "going all the way" this year. Something is very seriously wrong with this version of the Red Sox. Frankly, I don't really know what it is besides mediocre pitching. Attitude? Professionalism? I do know that every single game lately I have commented on the sloppy brand of ball they are playing. I don't see much of that from the other teams in the league.

I am not sure that losing games would not be in our best interests now. No, I am not hoping for loss after loss, not yet. If we do manage to finish below .500 and in last place the court of public opinion will weigh heavily on our current owners to do something about this: sell the team? Fire the GM and Lucchino?

The team is going DOWNHILL from last year. Unless major changes are made, why should anyone expect that their fortunes should change?

Enjoy the fireworks.

No question that if WMB and Pedey have to spend real time on the DL, those two guys would likely to finally be two guys to many from the stock of everyday players. They simply mean to much to this team.

I think there are things they can do. I don't know if they will do them. The mistake we might be making is in looking at these God awful last seven ball games and just want to put them in our rear view. In fact, close, low scoring games is something they are going to see much more of in the second half and Ells and CC can only do so much. They will not turn the tide because there are so many facets to the that kind of baseball that are weak spots for the Sox. Neither one will be stepping to the pitching mound and that is still the biggest problem the Sox have.

As it is while I for one had hoped the could at least ease CC back in because he can no longer even throw the ball the same way anymore. He is really going through some changes. Now i think they will simply have no time to do that and will have to just toss both players into the deep end of the pool and see what happens.

I still believe we can take up a fight this year. I understand a lot of players will have to play their butts of but I don't expect anything less from the players. We need a turning moment and I am hoping it will come soon

We still have half the season left. Let's see where we're at after the skanks series.

We can't get upset about letting Youk go.

It WAS TIME! WMB is at the door. Youk was not producing in the least. And even if WMB isn't the guy it could be Xander soon.

However, that's f***ing stupid that we got dog s*** for Youk. Even if his #s were down... he was like one of the top 5 players 2007-2010, or 11. so i mean... f***ing dumb. FO shoulda pushed better or just sat his ass.

Since the Red Sox are still paying him, he could have been sitting on our bench as insurance for the rest of the year, and he could have moved on after the end of the season. There was no emergency to trade him.

Maybe you have a point that something substantial needs to happen to really catch this FO's attention.

It seems many fans have lost trust in the organization's ability to assemble a cohesive, winning team after the past several seasons of ?ber talented yet unfulfilling squads. What makes this situation even more sickening is the organization has blamed everything under the sun (injuries, umpires, travel schedule, etc) but their own ineptitude for the team's failures.
