Longevity certainly factors into the equation. A guy hitting over .300 with a good OBP at age 37 or 38 while manning SS is pretty damn good. We have to stop making the Jeter sucks arguments. It makes Sox fans look stupid and whiny. There comes a time when you have to tip your cap to your opponent. That time came a long time ago with Jeter.

... and so is Brady.

The King indeed...

I remember when I went to Fenway for Carl Yastrzemki Day in 1983-- his second to last game. As I was buying the tickets from the scalper' date=' I got grabbed around the neck from behind from someone yelling my last name. I turned around and it was a bunch of guys that I went to High School with in Brooklyn. They were rabid Yankee fans. I said to them: "it's his final weekend, did you have to come here to harass him." They told me that they thought he was an all-time great. They grew up watching him and they were there to see him honored. I argued baseball with these guys for years, and they were there to tip their caps.[/quote']

I was in Fenway in 1987 for Reggie Jackson's last game there. Sherm Feller asked for a Fenway Farewell for Mr. October. And damned if the Fenway fans didn't give him a big ovation. Very classy.

But we can still hate him.

When Jeter makes his farewell rounds in his last year, I'll give him his credit and cheer for him. But only before the game starts. Until then, he's an overrated singles hitter with no range.

Yeah I realize that would be the right thing for me to do in that situation but I'm just too much of a biased Yankee hater to do it. I'll never be able to be that good of a fan

Jeter of the NFL, fo sho.

Pats fans are also the Yankees fans of football. BTR may very well be the Jacko of another Pats forum. ;)

Lillibitch is quite the find. Getting him reminds me of those situations where in Fantasy sports when an owner tries to trade you a guy the day before he has to cut him. The guy sucks balls. When our OF'ers start coming back, he should be the first one cut. Don't tell me he can play IF, because he can't. If there is one thing he does worse than hit, it is playing middle infield. Punto is a much better middle infielder.

Hard to expect Doubront to match the last three starts for the Sox. Would be really nice to get some damn runs. It would be absurd to lose 3/4 to Seattle.
I pretty much need a no-hitter from him to win one of my leagues this week.
