If Youk doesn't get traded before the Toronto series' date=' will the fans continue to give him standing O's and curtain calls every game?:dunno:[/quote']

Remy and Orsillo made a good point. The way his teammates reacted spoke volumes that this is it. If not, he should continue getting standing O's and curtain calls. IMO.

I think he was pulled so that ovation could happen.

Partly yes, but I still think the deal is done or very close.

A Big YEAH for BTR's GT MOJO!!:thumbsup:

I'll pretty much only see the next 2 games and that's if for a while with a day game and then the West Coast trip.

I feel bad I missed what was probably Youk's last game. I'm glad he went out on a high note and got some fan love if that's the case though. He had some rough times here as of late but it was never for lack of trying, he really came through for us a lot in the past.

Good luck and God bless you Youk.

And I hope he gets to hit a soft comebacker at Joba Chamberlain someday, maybe hit him in the ass as he turns or something.

What a haul? We're looking at negative WAR with that package.

Sell off mode has been commenced?

We were lucky to get anyone at all for Youkilis. Unless he can somehow turn it around (he has stunk since last July) he is finished. We got a fair deal for him.

I disagree in this sense. Cherrington insistence on playing Youklis depressed his value. Cherriese would have gotten more for him anytime in the last 8 months. His value steadily declined since October. Everyone in baseball knew that the Sox had to dump Youklis because his presence in Boston was disruptive. So the Chisox got him at the lowest price possible. The idea is sell high and buy low and that's exactly what the WHITE sox did.

He hit .199 after the ASB last year and ended the season on the DL. You can't sell high on that. Other teams needed to see him play.

He stunk for nearly a year. He was not turning it around at all, and he had a propensity to end up on the DL. Furthermore, there is no room for him on this team. There was a better player, potentially at least, waiting in the wings. They had to get rid of him for whatever they could get in return, even if it was nothing.

Youkilis' contribution to this franchise was huge. And its over. Its been over for him for a year, almost. His time was up; he had his chance to turn it around and failed to do so. I wish him well.

Given their propensity to ride broken down horses until they are lying on their backs with their four hoofs sticking up into the air, it is likely lucky that the Sox got out of the Youk situation as good as they have. Here we have WMB coming on strong just when we need him to do just that.

Sure it would have been more convenient if either:

a) WMB showed more earlier (which would have really been optimal)

or;

B) the Sox were not as risk averse on guys on their system as they are and figured WMB to be close enough to have handed him 3rd base earlier

Remember though...the Sox were the odds on favorites to blast their way out of the AL East in 2011 and go all the way. So if you think you are set up for that, it is hard to take a piece of that puzzle off the plate. Then as has already been pointed out, Youk got hurt at the end. For once I think it is hard to kick the Sox to hard for how they have handled this particular situation.

Pretty even match ups all around. Should take 2/3.

By the way, turns out Bird was on the juice, if anyone cares.

Probably the first two give Lester's typical run support.
