If you were in my shoes...... heading to Boston for a week in Aug., would you fork out money for nice seats for one game, or maybe cheaper bleacher seats for a couple games? Any further seating / ticket advice appreciated. Thanks.

My advice is also to NOT buy tickets in advance as tickets are no longer high in demand and if you waited out you can go on stubhub the day before the game and get kick ass seats for under face value.

This is so true. You always have someone trying to get money by selling tickets last minute because they can't go to the game for some reason. I got tickets to the Marlins vs. Red Sox game on Tuesday for $16 a piece and the face value is $50. I was stupid enough to buy Spring Training tickets at face value instead of waiting to go on StubHub a day or two before the game to get tickets cheaper.

I made the same mistake. Until this season, the ticket prices for Red Sox tickets on the secondary market, i.e., StubHub had been higher than face value. This season the bottom has fallen out of the secondary market. It's happening to the Yankee tickets too. It has to be the economy. The Yanks are in first place and the secondary market for their tickets sucks just as much as it does for a last place team.

My advice is not to buy tickets at all. Why support John Henry's money machine? Until he is hurt in the only way he can be hurt he will continue to ignore the Red Sox and allow his team to be mismanaged. Boycott the team in every way you can. Don't support Henry until substantive change is made. Watch them on TV.

Maybe he wants to go to Fenway? Your " boycott" will never work, sorry....and watching them on tv IS supporting them.... I've got yankee/sox tix for next month, guess what, I wouldn't give them up if we were 30 gms out of 1st...

Well I may be a silly pink hat, but no chance I turn down a Red Sox game in Fenway in what could be Ortiz's last year. Never been before. I am as frustrated as all get out with the team this year, but still enjoy being a fan. Being emotionally angry at John Henry would be a real waste of energy for me, as opposed to getting the most out my honeymoon, with my beautiful wife, that we've been waiting almost 14 years for.

Go. Have a blast and forget about the rest of the season.

As a Sox fan, it'd be silly to not gobecause of JH. My guess is that you'll be buying tickets through a reseller and that JH has gotten the $ already.

Concessions are expensive, so get food beforehand.

Loge Box down if you don't want to worry about obstructions.

Also, you can get tix on RedSox.com for face value right now for most of the games coming up.

Last - it depends on when you're going. If you're going to be here on a Tuesday or Wednesday, I would buy 1 set of good tickets, and then wait until about 3 hours before gametime and swipe some seats off of StubHub for about 1/3 face value. It only works during the week, though. Weekend games don't usually drop below FV.

I've read conflicting information about food. Can you bring food into the park?

I haven't tried in the past few years, so I'm not sure. Back before this ownership group, you could bring in burritos from Burrito Max (rip) and no one would care.

Not necessarily . It depends for one how tall of a person you are .

I'm only 5'8 and I sat in Lodge seats twice and both times I couldn't see anything as the people in front were over 6 feet tall / big guys. Also, every 2 minutes you have people selling s*** and in your way.

One thing is for sure . NEVER sit in the first 5-6 rows of lodge box . Otherwise you have traffic walking in front all game long

I actually prefer to sit in the Pavillion section . No obstruction whatsoever and nobody selling anything . You get a perfect view of everything including the city.

They allow you to bring one unopened water bottle into the park per person. They don't allow food but if you have a jacket pocket (if it's warm that might not be fun) then you can easily sneak something in.

I am sure this bunch has taken a page out of Disney World's book and knows down to the nickel how much money each fanny in seat should be spending per quarter hour of attendance and makes every effort to extract that amount of cash from said fanny.

How I wish they cared as much about what those two eyes a couple of feet north of said fanny were looking at out there on the field.

Different strokes.....

I am not going to spend a dime on this franchise until they show some respect for the fans by putting a good product on the field or else apologizing publicly for the sham of a team they are trying to cram down our throats right now. I will hurt John Henry the only way he can be hurt by me: in the wallet. If enough people did it you can bet there would be a change. But thats just me.

As for you, I sincerely hope you have a good time at the game.

I'll be honest with you, your small change will make very little difference to JH right now. I know many of you aren't familiar with English Soccer, but Liverpool FC are my team over here. The new TV deal for domestic braodcast rights from 2013-2016 for live games has just sold for a little under 5 billion dollars. That's a 70% increase on the last deal and gives clubs an extra 50 million dollars a year. As I say this is just domestic rights, the overseas rights and domestic higlights packages have yet to be auctioned. If JH can get LFC back into the Champions League than that will be worth an extra 50 million dollars at least per each season they are in it.

There is mega money in soccer, though many here may not know it. That is why FSG appear to be spending a lot of time on LFC. But there is also factoring in the state the club was in when they bought it. It was a right mess and 2 hours from going bust due to the previous ownership. However as an LFC fan we think that they spend as much time on the Red Sox as they do LFC. And again, in sacking the biggest LFC icon there is from the manager position (Kenny Dalglish) we know they aren't afraid of making the right decisions if they are needed. If the Red Sox under perform as they are right now for the rest of the season then I'm sure they will do what is neccessary.

Anyway, that was slightly off the opening topic. I hope the OP enjoys the game. I'm hoping to get myself there next season. Right now the panoramic print of Fenway that I got for fathers day will have to suffice along with MLB.tv! :D

I realize that my protest is more symbolic than anything else. I know that I am a poppyseed in the bakery of life.

Still, I would love to see a half empty Fenway Park as a means to embarass John Henry. I don't think he could ignore that.

Just nailed down tickets for the 23rd. Box 101 row CC. $90.00 a piece.

And I scored free tickets to the Patriots Eagles pre season game!

Me be pretty excited.

Already booked plane tickets. Never been to Fenway. I only get to see any major league game about once every couple years..... I think I will go.

Be prepared to be disappointed. The seats are the most uncomfortable in the majors. The food sucks. The beers are priced way too high. In the 8th inning they really DO play that lame Neil Diamond song. And on top of that, the team sucks this year.

Find some other fun things to do in Boston so your trip doesn't totally blow.

How has this ownership group not shown respect for the fans? They have made some bad decisions but also, they kept Fenway intact and didn't build a new park. They were the only ownership group that really pushed for that.

They spent 285 million on renovations, seating additions and seating renovations since they bought the team.

They are spending about 175 million on the team this year. Now it isn't well spent money in some cases but that's the GM's fault. You can blame LL for his meddling, but he has always done that, including some of the good signings over the years.

Now if you want to rip them for the fact that they are kind of egotistical, not good employers and throw former players, managers and anyone else under the bus, then sure you're absolutely right.

I mean they are in no way the best ownership group, but they are definitly not the worst.

As for the person who originally posted this thread, glad you found tickets and it's an amazing place and great experience and i wished i lived closer so i could go more often. Also, splurge and get some greasy over priced food. If your only going for one game, and don't get out to Fenway very often, then it just adds to the experience.
