Can't tell you how nice it is to see someone not resort to a lot of chest thumping and name calling and just explain the reasons why they feel the way they do. Good points Emmz.

Yeah, and if I ever call you a name, it's always in the name of humor, I'm not really into trying to censor your opinions.

You say its "probable" that he will return to career norms; I says its "possible". Even good players have off years. A star player is fair game for complaints if he is not performing for long periods of time. He did great last year; he got kudos for it. This year, he is very mediocre and is getting well deserved complaints. When you are being paid what he is being paid, thats the way it is.

I give my players the benefit of the doubt when they're proven to be excellent players. You make it sound like he's useless, that's like the mentality that bandwagon fans have, they're the biggest fans when the team's successful, but when they're not, they just complain, make fun of the team, etc.

I never understood not having that loyalty, but hey, different strokes right?

Wow, you really aren't very intelligent are you? I actually feel bad for giving you a hard time now. Life should be fun for you, you know, not a lot of thinking to get in the way.

I'd rather have Paul Konerko at his salary.

Konerko is a bargain, no doubt. He could have got a lot more money than he did, I think.

papi and youk have been hitting over .900 OPS for years. They should also make $22 million.

Ortiz is a DH, Youk gets injured all the time. Nuff said.

Paul Konerko is 36 and Agon's career averages are better

Not to mention hawk would follow him to the red sox and we'd all have to kill ourselves.

Good plan.

Try not to use words with more than four letters though.

You see how good he did explaining how you were wrong.

For my part my issues with Gonzo have nothing to do with being in a slump. My issues with Gonzo are that slump or no he makes monumentally poor plate appearances.....stupid plate appearances. When he is going good it is not as noticeable but you can still see it if you allow yourself to get past the stuff you like. Then when he is going badly he exacerbates the situation again because he makes such piss poor plate appearances. It should be embarrassing to him that Nava makes better plate appearances than he does by a mile. That is why these days when guys have to get him out...he is in the main an out because they just bare down a bit...and lead him around the plate like a puppet.

There is such a list of s*** he does poorly at the plate that makes him an easy out and that does bother the s*** out of me. He could put himself in a position to see better pitches to hit and more pitches to hit and could make it more of a riddle for pitchers to figure him out. He does none of that and he is not a riddle for anybody.

It seems to me that he is gong to stubbornly continue this way and if he breaks out of it still making piss poor plate appearances so be it. The mighty AGons concedes nothing to nobody. So be it. Just don't expect me to give him a pass for it.

Notice I have not even touched on the issue of his power hitting which now seems non-existant at present.

Does following a team for 50 years constitute loyalty? I wish that they would win every game too. When the players play well, I cheer for them. When they play poorly for long periods of time, they get booed. Comes with the territory of being a Red Sox player. Its as old as the game itself. Loyalty has nothing to do with giving anyone the benefit of the doubt. Bandwagon fans move away when the team is losing. Real loyalty is sticking with the team, following it regularly, when they are losing for years and years and years.

Yeah, that is a big one in your arsenal. You use it in almost every game thread.

Sorry we can't all be homers and ignore reality.

It's applicable.

This is an example of why you are one of the best posters there is. If people took the time to actually read this stuff they could learn something.

Ortiz is a DH' date=' Youk gets injured all the time. Nuff said.[/quote']7 first basemen OPSed at .900 or above in 2011, 5 in 2010 and 13 in 2009. He ain't worth $22 million/year.

What was Ortiz worth when he was OPSing at more than 1.000 for three years in a row. That's just sick.

Boy that was actually closer to a HR than I thought when viewed first time. I have a suspicion we are going to be grateful for that last Papi bomb.
