Lefty Craig Breslow coming to Red Sox. via Cafardo tweet.

Breslow for Albers and Podsednick. Done deal.

I don't know much about him. How good is he? Is this a good trade?

Albers #'s are better than Breslow's. WTF did we add?

Breslow's a lefty and his career numbers are pretty good, better than Albers.

A solid lefty. Albers was always the weak link in our pen and I'm not sad to see him go. I never was very high on him.

Breslow is a solid lefty reliever. Albers has solid numbers but scares the s*** out of me every time he comes into a game and he turned back into a pumpkin right around this time last year.

I thought you were a 'sell high' guy. That's what we did with Albers.

Alberts ERA may be low, but he sucks with guys on base.

Helps us improve the rotation in house and we got a solid lefty reliever for the last 2 months and 2013 for a washed up singles hitter and a meh reliever.

I like Breslow, but everyone else is getting guys for $1 store rejects. We gave up a guy from our roster that has been doing pretty well. If they had to give a guy from the major league roster why not part with the 8.59 ERA of Melancon?

A solid lefty so that Morales can move back to the rotation. Pretty smart move' date=' IMO.[/quote']So two guys come out of the pen replaced by one guy Breslow. Who takes the other spot in the pen?

Looks like Breslow strikes out more batters, but I'm assuming the main things is that he is a lefty.

Tazawa for the time being, most likely. And then Bailey when he returns. A bullpen of Padilla, Melancon, Miller, Breslow, Aceves, and Bailey is pretty solid and really versatile. Leaves them with a rotation of Buchholz, Lester, Beckett, Morales, and Doubront. In theory, that *should* be a plenty good rotation.

Those type of deals--or giveaways--are salary dumps. Everybody is dumping salary on the Dodgers, because the owners said spend. Breslow isn't a salary dump.

Who would want Melancon--except Ben?

Nice move, now we can put Morales back in the Rotation....

Buchholz

Lester

Beckett

Doubie

Morales

Not bad.

I thought Morales was going to piggyback on Doubs when he reached his innings limit? Who will take his spot now and who will step in for Morales who will be limited in innings? Morales has already thrown more innings than he has in a 7 year major league career.

Bard will replace Melancon.

Don't know if the plan is to limit Morales' innings. Maybe they do that by going to a six-man rotation, adding Cook to the list I gave a few posts ago.

We'll see.

Because no one wants melancon. Albers may be good right now but his career numbers and what happened last year would dictate that he's bound to crash down to earth sooner rather than later. Albers was the weak link on our pen and the fact that we were able to spin him and Scotty pods to Arizona for an effective lefty who's under control through next season is a point in ben's favor.

Good point. Breslow is making almost $2 million and he is arb eligible.

He's arb eligible. He'll have to pay him $3 + million.

Another nothing trade for cherington. What has this guy done since becoming GM?

This was a solid trade. You have no argument on this one.

And just for the record: Cody Ross says hi.

Breslow's more durable' date=' he's lefthanded and he's an overall better pitcher. What's the problem?[/quote']I like Breslow. No problem with him. All these other teams are making high profile moves and not parting with a guy from their roster or a major prospect. Our airhead gives up a guy pitching to a 2.25 ERA on the major league roster for a lefty specialist.
