3 errors in 9 games. Move him to short and that ugly # skyrockets further.

Yeah, and I'm sure nerves had nothing to do with any of those? He's a kid?

Do you really think he'd be better in LF than ss?? Please explain how a kid that's never played OF before can handle LF at Fenway? Better than he could at ss, when he's been a left-side infielder his entire life?

His bat can make up for any defensive lapses. That's kind of the idea.

There are less defensive chances in LF than SS. He's had trouble with quick throws to first. I don't think nerves play a part in that (no time to overthink things).

Exactly, so why not move him to ss where he'd be more comfortable? Especially when aviles would be a more than adequate option in the OF, and it's not like he's a gold glove ss to begin with?

Funny how all yr people on this site have complained about aviles defense at ss, but they are dead-set against moving WMB to ss and he's been an infielder his whole life lol

And WMB is our 3b " of the future " so let's put him in LF, then have to move him to RF when Crawford comes back, then next yr expect him to just go right back to 3b.... Nice way to f*** a kid up if you ask me

Thanks guys, pitchers and fielders of our Red Sox, you've given me a nice weekend. If the feeling's good they keep on rolling.12 runs for 12 hits is not bad. GO RED SOX!! And to aal mothers: have a wonderful day!

He hasn't been very good at 3b, but he'll be fine at SS. Really?

My position is leave WMB at 3b. Find something else for Youk to do.

There is only so many times we can keep running Nava out there in the 6th spot in the lineup before he turns back into a .246 hitting pumpkin with no power.

The kid is still on a roll. Doubled to deep center to score 2 today, stole a base.

He and Middlebrooks are showing those millionaire stiffs how to play the game.

12-1 game, Bard goes 6 ,97 pitches. V uses 3 more pitchers to finish the game. One per inning.

Which is why the Red Sox burn out their bullpen every year.

V handles pitching no different than Tito. That tells me it's the front office that's handling the pitching.

Hard to believe.

He will turn back into a pumpkin eventually.

Youk will have to get plate appearances to "indicate" which way his hitting is going. You sure can't take Ortiz out of the line up to do that. Might be able to spell AGons a bit to get Youk some at bats but I don't see any other places for Youk besides 3rd or an occasional appearance at 1st.

Keep WMB at 3b and send Youk packing to anywhere. That else can Youk do? Gonz is hitting his stride (maybe) so first base is out of the question. What to do?? You can't possibly sit WMB, yet. He needs at least 125 ABs.

Guess we'll send him to the bench then. This team is so far out it can't afford another McD at the plate.

I have to disagree. 3 pitchers threw an inning last night and 3 different relievers threw an inning today. All of them would easily be available for tomorrow.

And the Red Sox haven't 'burned out their bullpen' every year. Last year Bard got burned out mainly because the starting pitching was so atrocious late in the year. Other than that I don't really know what you're referring to.

When Soxsport talks about managers babying their starters, just ignore him. He's made that argument atleast a hundred times since joining here. That's no exaggeration, take a look at his previous posts if you don't believe me.

Went to the game today. Absolutely beautiful day for baseball. First time in a while they strung together good hitting and good pitching.

Three consecutive quality starts from the starters. Funny how this team is actually capable of winning when the starters give them a chance to win.

In games started by Doubront and Bard, the Red Sox are 8-6. Which, of course, means that in games started by Beckett, Lester, and Buchholz, the Sox are 7-12 (Cook started 1 game). That's pathetic from your top 3.

And if they're your top 3, they're bound to improve. At least in my opinion.

You're joking, right? We used Hill, Albers, and Atchison today. The important thing is that we got Padilla, Miller, and Aceves days off. A reliever should be able to pitch one inning on back-to-back days. That is not burning out the bullpen. I could understand your argument if the same pitchers were used in 5 or 6 straight games, but that is not the case. I think V does have a little bit of a different approach to the bullpen than Tito did. It is common sense that on blowout games that you are going to use pitchers like Albers and in close games that you are going to use your set-up guys and closer. If you think that is why Bobby V uses his bullpen similar to the way Francona did, then you are correct because that is usually how 100% of managers use their bullpen.
