I've been very impressed by the progress Bard has shown as a starter. The start he made tonight would be a good start no matter who made it and is his second quality start of three starts made.

Now it's still early, but the steady progress has been impressive from start to start and the progress he's making is rapid. I expect him to have some dead-arm related duds in mid June, and if he gets past those without too much damage, we have an ace potential kid here.

If people can get over the closer wangst and realize the job this kid is doing as a member of the starting rotation, we just might have something here.

Another Bard thread, really?

Yes, let's keep him in the rotation, but not clutter the board with derivative threads.

I didn't see a thread updating Bard's progress as a starter, which is why I broke this one out.

If I'd posted this in the Bard-to-the-pen thread, it would have put the Bard-to-the-pen folks entirely on the defensive and maybe triggered another gentleman's measurement contest, which I didn't want.

So' date=' you didn't like your own, "I liked Bard tonight", thread?[/quote']

If it's made its way to page 2, I shouldn't be expected to exhume it. I don't have an encyclopedic memory of all the threads I created in the last month, and should not be expected to.

Now could we actually pretend this thread is about Bard?

Doesn't the fact that you'd need an encyclopedia to catalog all your threads kind of speak to the point?

EDIT: The thread you "shouldn't be expected to remember" is three weeks old, not three years. And you made it. Stop being lazy.

Nothing wrong with a Bard thread. Just not one Bard thread for each Bard-related thought we have.

Either do a catch-all Daniel Bard thread, or... or... no, just do a catch all Bard thread.

That said, I'm glad to see him finding a bit of success as an MLB starter.

Megathreads suck. you can't FIND anything in them. When you allow them to break out you get 5 page threads that are easy to read through. WHen you clump everything into a megathread you get 200 pages of Wall of Text that only a masochist would consider.

This wasn't about Bard, it was about Bard-as-a-starter. There's plenty of threads about Bard that debate WHETHER he should be a starter, could we have one where we can allow his progress as a starter to dominate the discussion rather than the eternally lame controversy that dominates the other thread?
