here we go again. Pitcher throws the pitch, not the catchers.

Some pitchers feel more comfortable with specific catchers. Some catchers call a better game. It's not all on the pitcher.

If it was later in the season, I'd say your on to something...... But shoppach has caught becketts gms, that's 3 quality starts in a row.....Not saltys fault he's been stuck with Lester's stinkers

It's because the adequate and tall Salty doesn't give pitchers a low enough target- that's my theory. Mauer is a very big catcher, and early in his career my recollection is that some pitchers expressed concern about pitching to such a big catcher. Some felt that umps couldn't get a good look at the low pitch. Mauer, when healthy, compensates for his size by getting very low. IMO, Salty is giving too high a target and/or he is not giving the ump a good look at the low pitch.

Interesting. Never thought about big catchers versus small catchers. Buster Posey is pretty small dude umps must see the plate easy over his shoulders, huh?

let go of Salty, at this point Pudge would be a great sign if he wants to play. i loved his arm when someone tried to steal. (i know he retired but he is still in shape if he wants to contribute)

but pitchers also prefer their own catchers at times. and i think Lester/Buccholz like Salty behind the plate.

Salty is 6'4.

Varitek is 6'2.

2 inches makes no difference, or so my wife tells me.

You'll be sure to see him behind the plate whenever Beckett pitches.

I'll be watching the B's on the big screen and the Sox on the iPad. I think they win this one as the offense keeps rolling and Clay gives a just enough outing.

I honestly think this is the game where Buch breaks out and throws his first gem of the year. Got an easier lineup to face, this is where he starts to build confidence.

I was thinking this too. Hopefully he can get the ball rollin' and let it snowball through the rest of the season.

Hope so. Hate seeing these guys get destroyed or be halfway decent and have the bullpen let them down. Even if you have a great outing and lose because of the pen it has to destroy your confidence.

Got him for a prospect. Surprisen surprise!

You were clearing trading with Dojji. You probably could have gotten Halladay too!

For those who live outside of the area that gets NESN or those of you who do not have MLB.tv. Today the Red Sox game is the free game of the day. So be sure to go to MLB.tv to watch it.

Awesome. I could watch it here in Minny on FoxSports North but I'd rather gouge my eyes out with a toothpick than listen to Bert Blyleven call the game.
