We have to win today' date=' It's the only favorable match up we'll have in this series.[/quote']Last season, Nova was tough on the Sox. In the first series of the season, Nova bested Buchholz who pitched very poorly. It was the only game that we lost in that series.

Speaking of pitching matchups, one of the things that I liked about Francona is that he always lined up the pitching do that at least 2 of our top 3 pitchers started against the Yanks. Bobby V has the bottom 3 going. At least we catch abreak in that we will be facing Garcia on Saturday. Of course, that will probably be the game that we lose. You can't figure out this game.

I'm more worried about the Sox getting the all important record for toasts! Also, what's the over/under on irrelevant Sox players returning for today? 175?

Canseco, Smoltz, ugh... At least players like Troy O'Leary actually did something here.

Will Craig Grebeck show up?

Craig Grebeck! He maybe the all time worst offensive player that I have seen in a Sox uniform.

I really hope we play well today and for the series in general. Win or lose, I just want the Red Sox to not be an embarrassment as they have been for 80% of the season thus far.

I wish Cody Ross would learn to hit cutters/curves/sliders (anything other than fastballs down the pipe) - Guy needs to swing at those pitches considering the scouting reports have pitchers ravaging him with pitches he won't swing at.

Hope Darnell gets a multi hit game and bats in some RBI's if he plays. I like the guy, but he has done absolutely nothing offensively for us.

Sweeney should lead-off, as we have all said and agreed on.

Can't have multiple errors defensively today, or get picked off/thrown out while on base (if we get there).

Ugh, I know we can play well - I just get frustrated at the prospect of not doing so.

Let's go Red Sox

I'm really excited for the Bard CC matchup on sunday. I have a feeling the Yanks are going to work Bard to death though.
The matchups are not going to matter. Even if our guys hold their own or best their guys, we still have to hand the ball to the bullpen. Unless our starters can go 8 and hand the ball to Aceves, we could see some rough late innings. The Yankee bullpen crushes our pig pen. Our offense will need to bludgeon their starters.

And that has been my point in several of these ongoing discussions. This team was designed to bash its way to victories not pitch its way to victories. It has holes all over the place but the thing that it has done less of that it is intended to do is bash its way to victories. It was not designed to win 1-0 or 2-0. If you see a 1-0 or even a 2-0 game around here that is a Sox win let me know will ya'. I will want to mark that date and go out that evening to see my first pink elephants circling the moon.

If V keep playing McTurd and Repko over Sweeney I will send him a monkey wrenched ****.

Sweeney won't be in the line up against CC. The other 2 pitchers are right handed.

I actually like that lineup quite a lot, I think we'll score 5+ runs, but it might not be enough.

Well they found a way to get Mr Bounding Grounder D-mac out of the lineup although Repko is a panic in the outfield. That Salty bats 7th speaks volumes. C'mon back CC if for no other reason than to push Salty down at least one spot even against righties.

I am loving the lineup. I am glad Sweeney is not batting leadoff, I like him better in the two hole. I like Pedroia hitting 3rd. That is a fierce 3, 4, and 5. Let's hope Sweeney keeps it up. I am working during the game, but at least I will be able to take a break during the game. Let's get the W today. We need Buchholz to do his thing.
