Exactly he's our 5th STARTER

My point is, how much better do you think we'd be if we kept pap as our closer, bard as setup, aceves as long relief... And then added these other guys as " pieces".....

Who else was he gonna go to? Morales was his most reliable arm headed into the inning and it isn't like the pen is exactly fresh after last night.
You are right. He had no one else to go to, because he has been handed a s***** pen. One injury to the pen should not turn it into total s***. The Bailey injury should not cause this kind of devastation.

We'd have an overpaid closer who's glory years are behind him, Cook starting, and Ace would've been in his role had Bailey not gotten hurt in a freak accident. As I said, s*** happens. We've got a deal with it. Remember last year? The whole motherf***ing team was dogshit in April. The offense came through, the rotation settled in, and even the bullpen became solid. Am I happy we started like this? f*** no. Do I think it'll be this bad all year? f*** no. We'll be in the playoff race and we'll be right there with Texas, Detroit, Anaheim, and the Yankees when all is said and done. I guarantee it, no doubt in my mind whatsoever, not for a second.

No one could've counted on Melancon being this horrible and Morales was good right up until a few minutes ago.

Don't understand the necessity of a book's worth of explaining .... I was responding to what "could" of been done differently.....as far as believing in the in the sox, you better check the other gm threads cause win or lose , lose or get smashed, I take up for the sox and reference our first 2 wks last yr compared to the rest of the summer....( admittedly we are in worse shape right now roster wise )

Morales is okay. He had a bad night, but Bobby V had no one to go to when he got in trouble. There should have been someone to face Cruz, but there wasn't because the pen is too thin. As far as Melancon goes, he has looked consistently like s*** since ST opened. How much did our scouts actually see him pitch before we acquired him, because he has nothing. Is he bad enough to be pitching to a 45+ ERA? No, but he is still pretty bad.

Except the roster now is filled with cast off.

And destroyed by injuries. We'll be fine. The Sox, as much as it ticks me off, always start slow. No one can honestly think this s*** will go on for a full season.

Idk, the worst would be some of those horrible 90's teams. Yuck.

It's still April right?

And a rotation with Lackey!

And we're 4-8 without 'em.

Ellsbury will be back

Crawford too

Bard's doing fine in the rotation.

and Pap was asking far too much.

Give it time, things will smooth themselves over. We get Craw back soon, Hill too, maybe Tazawa turns into a good pen arm, Ells with be back at some point, Bailey.....

We've been dealt a s*** deck to start the year but it's a 162 game season.

And sorry' date=' but overpaid closer who's glory yrs are behind him???? Really??? You can't be freaking serious[/quote']

Dead serious. He asked for far too much and his numbers haven't commanded that kind of money in a while.
