This is 20/20 at its best. I mean' date=' your potentially new closer got beat two days ago, you have a 3 run lead. You put in your 'closer' and assume he can get 3 outs before three runners score. I bet any manager in baseball does the same thing.[/quote']

How much time do you give him? How many losses do you allow him before removing Aceves from that role? All these games count.

At this point, if we're keeping Bard in the rotation, I go with either Morales or Padilla as the closer for now. It's almost like you just go with the hot hand at the moment.

Yeah....I'm just twisted at the result.

Meanwhile, The 'Cubs of Theo' won.

Well, the Mets are 3-0. ;)

Cheer up. The Yankees just got shut out by Hellickson. Swept 3 by the Rays.

That should keep the media quiet.

You're a broken record with this media s***. Seriously, do you ever cut it out with it?

If the reasoning is that the best move today would have been to keep PADILLA (of all people) in the game, that tells me that they probably don't need a closer, they just need to make smarter decisions.

If they get away from the idea of a 'closer' perhaps they just keep the hot hand in there.

For today, I think that would have been the best move, yes. They still need a closer who can do the job if they hope to do anything at all this year.

I'm not keeping Aceves there. I'm just not convinced that Bard is the only answer. Morales looks pretty good. Melancon closed for Houston last year. Padilla was nearly unhittable today. I don't think it is either A or B.

There is no easy solution when you just don't have the overall quality in the pitching staff. I prefer Bard there, but could live with someone else. Not Aceves.
