IF Cook can be an effective starter. A couple of good MiLB innings and people think he's a viable starter in the AL East.

The consistent love small sample sizes around here is mind-boggling.

Both in favor of players and s***ing on them. Welcome to the nation, check logic at the door.

What if the Sox won 1 of those first 3 games LAST season. They'd have been in a WC game in October. See how this works? Every game counts towards the final record.

Maybe this team's airplane will crash & burn on the way to Toronto and we can get a new team cause we're certainly finished with this one!!

Your consistency his amazing ipot.

I just HATE losing, example1. You'll learn that about me.

I 'knee jerk' A LOT:D

And then the next day I come back to my senses.

And Bard isn't a starter. Sounds like we need to swap the two.

Based on what? He has not been allowed to start a single game.

This s*** is ridiculous.

The concern is whether they pulled a Joba on Bard by tinkering with him too much......

Didn't Don and Jerry just make a very strong suggestion that Bard needs to be the closer. That was the clear implication of their comment.

Jerry also has called the Tigers catcher Aviles for the past few games... what's your point?

When Bard starts giving up runs in bunches, don't make me tell you I told you so.

Well then screw those guys.

If you are going to make a big deal out of one guy as a closer--putting him in key spots all the time--he better be a guy who is dependable to pitch in back to back days. Bailey has really screwed them, because now they don't have that guy.

They put Aceves in back to back, and he doesn't do it. The better option is to go with the guy who has pitched 4 good innings--if he isn't tired. But managers knee jerk to the "closer" these days. Trouble is, the Sox don't have one. They are just throwing darts at a board right now.

Well hopefully you never get the chance to be such a troll.

This makes absolutely no sense. The point is seeing whether he can be a starter. Neither of us knows if he can or can't be, so stop pretending like you do.

I think the point is that Bard as closer is a very reasonable suggestion.

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU? Take that remote and show her who is boss. She can have the TV all day if she wants after the game.

Should this game be this intense?? Makes for good entertainment.... Unless we lose.

Yes, I'm all for it to clarify. I just don't know if he'll have his stuff....but they have to try.

So... not running Pedroia. Not pinch-hitting for Shoppach.

I was pretty sure that the lack of lolligagging in spring training, and Bobby V's tight ship and new approach were supposed to lead to a much better prepared team than 2011. Weird how s*** doesn't work out sometimes.

Can't just plug Cook into the ALE although I do think he will see time in Boston.

Unless you did not know it, Aceves is a very stubborn dude, headstrong and stubborn. To be honest it looks to me like he comes out and pitches in the 9th just like he would if it was the 6th. I don't mean the pitches are the same. I mean he does not have his own head screwed on for pitching in the 9th. He gets to the mound not even realizing he is all adrenaline and no brains. Before he even gets to the pitches he's done.

He can certainly change speeds better than he has shown but have we seen him throw anything but meat in his two Closer chances...I haven't. Nothing comes in looking like it will fool guys with their blood up in the 9th inning yet he does not have gas. Even when he overthrows it is not like the ball is exploding on guys.

I think the one experiment that is truly done is Aceves as closer. Don't think he even knows what is happening to him.

The list is beginning to grow of the folks gcalling for Bard to bew the closer. I think it is going to be painfully obvious that they need Bard in the pen. It is inevitable.
