Well the Sox have a lotta' choices...just don't seem to be making the right ones.

Padilla has gas obviously and Aceves does not. Could have tried Padiila in the closers spot. Could it be worse than what they are doing?

Have to fool them in the 9th or blow it past them. Can't just go out there and throw and that is exactly what Aceves has done twice now.

Its on the FO because they apparently promised Bard a SP role. He should have been the closer when Bailey went down.

A starting pitcher is more valuable than a closer. It makes tons of sense to have Bard fill the position of higher need.

Come on' date=' Morales. Just throw a meatball, end this misery, and let's move on.[/quote']

Really? I'd prefer if we won...

After Cook's CG' date=' 0 ER the other day in Pawtucket, I think it's time to call him up and put Bard in the bullpen. And I think it's obvious.[/quote']

Are you serious? It's the third game of the season and Bard hasn't started one game.

Get a grip, people.

Red Sox have no money and so many pitching needs, woop woop.

Is it FOOTBALL season yet? lol Nah, jk, its only game 3 of 162!

Guarantee that Red Sox Nation just COMPLETELY gave up on the ENTIRE baseball season. I mean, honestly. Red Sox fans give up quick! Might as well chalk this season up as a L, right? lol!

What if the Sox won 1 of those first 3 games LAST season. They'd have been in a WC game in October. See how this works? Every game counts towards the final record.

It's not such a bad thing if we take him out of the closer role. He'll still be effective in the BP.

I don't want to limit him by putting him in a role he can't even do. The pieces are here to compete but they aren't exactly doing much to convince the idiots right now.

Who would want a characer-building, gritty win when you can have a ho-hum, 'we got out asses kicked in the 9th' loss?

We are f***ed if we have to keep bard in the rotation. We badly need him in the pen. He is the only one who can strike someone out.

The concern is whether they pulled a Joba on Bard by tinkering with him too much......

What if papelbon didn't s*** the bed? You can't use that argument because it could go for any one game of the year.

Well, Aceves hasn't gotten an out yet. I understand it's early, but we need a strikeout pitcher in the bullpen.

The closer could end up hurting us a lot more than Cook could as a 5th starter.

Oh, you're right. That would fit much better into the whole "f*** this team and everyone associated with it" mentality.

Aceves is not a closer. He's a good middle reliever and spot starter.

We have other options for our #4-5 SP. We don't have anyone else who can close games. Where he should be is a matter of opinion. Last I checked most of those who voted in the poll favored Bard being the closer. More than likely had he been named closer we would already have won this game.

There are choices but Aceves is just going out there and throwing....that has no chance in the 9th. It just doesn't. Even Melancon has closed and likely at least knows what he has to do to get through a ninth inning. Aceves for all of his value to this team seems to simply not recognize what pitching in the 9th requires.

This right here is why I'm on perma ban alert on a daily basis. Idiots like the ones in that quote.

IF Cook can be an effective starter. A couple of good MiLB innings and people think he's a viable starter in the AL East.

The consistent love small sample sizes around here is mind-boggling.

If you're referring to example1 I think you misunderstood his post

Ortiz makes up for that crap AB with Coke earlier. Calling it.

Only to be blown by the ghost of Aceves' past, coming in to close the game.
