I love Phelps. His stuff plays well and he can locate, but man does he tire early. It likely has something to do with his role being dicked around, but he has really filled in nicely for a big need. He likely moves back to the pen when Pettitte comes up, but I have a feeling a need will arise later in the yr and Phelps will be up for the task

Might be time to move Soriano into the closers role. Robertson just doesnt seem comfortable closing and Soriano knows how to do it. And before you guys harp on the run Soriano allowed, it was Jeter's fault. Chopper to Jeter who double clutched and threw low, so the runner beat it. He took second on defensive indifference and moved to third and scored on grounders. Soriano just looked poised out there and his experience might be what we need. Plus, Robertson was quite possibly the best reliever in baseball prior to moving to closer, and since then, he's allowed 7 baserunners in 1.2IP.

3 games over and 2 games back of the AL East lead. We have Pettitte coming back and Garcia out of the rotation. Our rotation is starting to get good enough to win the East and if Nova can continue to pitch well, we could be better than that. Not sure why everyone here thinks we're finishing 4th, maybe just to make them feel better. We're gonna win this division by 5 games.

Hughes looks really good today. The velocity is really good

Hughes was dominant today. Only 3 of the hits were actually hit well. He went to the breaking ball at will and showed the change enough for it to be effective. Not sure where his fastball was his first 3-4 starts, but he had a lot of life and good velo

If you're looking for grudging respect from a Red Sox fan, that's me. I hate the Yankees as much as anybody, but I don't write them off until they're mathematically eliminated. And that's only happened once since 1995.

Pettitte looked good through 5. He looked terrible from the 6th on. He's gonna have to build up somewhere, but lost it in the 6th. Through 5, he put up... 5IP 2H 2ER 3BB
