I posted the other poll almost two weeks ago. Most people (almost 80%) thought we would get a new starting pitcher. I'd like to see if the passage of time has changed any minds, so I am reposting it.

If it happens' date=' it probably happens tonight. Two big offers out there. Who knows, maybe both pitchers will accept?[/quote']

I know that won't happen and that you were joking, but could you imagine a rotation with Lester, Beckett, Buchholz, Jackson, and Oswalt? That would be solid. Before I get myself carried away, let's just sign one of the two soon. I say we sign one of the two by tomorrow night for sure. The offers are on the table. I do admit I am kind of concerned that we haven't heard anything yet, but let's hope for the best.

if true, JH will have another sold out season, and he could even raise the tickets and fans probably won't complain.

The vote is 7-0-0-0 that we will get another pitcher before Spring Training. That's more optimistic than the last poll.

Well, after reading that Oswalt is very close to sign with TEX and Cherington interview, I probably will change my vote.

If the Red Sox are too damn cheap to sign a pitcher for more than $5 million, maybe the best way to go is to trade for Floyd providing Ken Williams doesn't want the kitchen sink and bathtub in exchange. The front office has become a pile of cheap bastards this off season and whether it's because of all the money we spent last year or not, the fact is they are not going to increase payroll. Perhaps the only recourse is for fans to stop buying tickets and for the press and media to really give Henry and Co. a verbal blanket party and not let up unti the end of the season. Seems to me Prune Face is giving all of Red Sox Nation a big middle finger and whether y ou buy it or not that is my opinion and I'm entitled to it. Things just took a turn for the worse because we may not get that pitcher after all.

Fred, if you are so discontent because of the cheapness of the FO in trotting out a 178 million dollar ballclub, you always have the choice of becoming a Yankees fan. They always spend.;)

This is not about 178 M payroll or whatever. I think that Fred is pissed off because we are clogged in our payroll. I'm pissed off about that.

If we don't get a starting pitcher, after trading Scuturo purportedly to dump salary to sign a pitcher, would make Ben look foolish and inept. Certainly he would be rightly criticized for putting the cart before the horse. Ben has needlessly complicated his own situation and reputation by saying that ownership hasn't instructed him to stay below the Lux tax. So a reasonable question would be why trade Scuturo without obtaining the pitcher first?

Of course all this is moot if he actually gets a major league ready starter by all his machinations.

And when we don't get that SP their media lackies will start with all the crap about how we really didn't need one anyway because Ben's done such a good job in stock piling SP 'depth' as they're calling it now. Laughable.

But hey, the pollyannas will buy it. They always do.
