I voted less than 50. Unless the Japanese have discovered a secret speedy healing process. :-)
Hideki Irabu used to walk around with magnets on various parts of his body between starts for the Yankees under the theory that it promoted healing. It didn't help him much. The body will heal from surgery on it's own timetable. When a doctor to tells you that something will heal in X time, they know what they are talking about.

I actually think the sox will try to bring him back as a reliever so they can actually get something out of him in the final year of his contract
He's such a prima dona that he would probably oppose being used as a reliever.

That would be a disaster. A reliever who nibbles and has had issues getting rest between starts, no way he's converted.

He can oppose it all he wants. If Bobby V calls up the pen coach and asks him to warm' date=' he's gonna warm[/quote']and he'll walk the first 3 hitters he faces and walk off the mound in a huff.

I can't see him throwing a pitch in the majors before September. Barring injuries to other pitchers, I can't see them bringing him up before rosters expand unless there was an emergency or they were desperate.

It is a tough call. No one knows for sure when he will be back. I have heard this summer sometime, so that could be June, July, or August. You also have to factor in our pitching need at the time of his come back. If we have five solid starters at the time, then he might barely get any innings. Maybe the pen is an option for him at the time if that is the case. If we have only four solid pitchers and we need some help in the rotation, then I see him obviously getting a shot. I would say if we don't need him in the rotation, then less than 50. If we need him in the rotation and comes back in July sometime, then I see him getting 50+.

See, he didn't kill himself the bullet was just attracted to the magnet on his head.

I'm looking foward to 2012 of Dice K, Because its his last year of the contract :)

for that matter , I couldn't care less if he pitches or not

Make that two of us RSRules. He's been a big pain in the ass with his constant butting heads with the coaching staff. Fine, he did help us win a WS in 2007 but after a real good 2008 turned into a real prima donna the last three seasons. Besides, I don't think he will be much good when he does come back so who can really care anyway?:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

I just can't wait to watch Dice-K pitch again!! Just like I can't wait for my next root canal!

I've always thought Dice-K would be a much better relief pitcher than a starter. I think they should give him a chance to prove what he can do out of the bullpen, providing he is back in time to see enough action, and that he isn't somehow needed in the rotation upon his return.

He'll be lucky to pitch five innings before BobbyV bitch-slaps him.

Wrong. BV has stated that the Sox messed up by not letting him go longer in starts. If he comes back, BV won't be scared to let him throw a bunch of pitches.

If Dice-K pitches this year, I think BV will do exactly that let him throw 200 pitches. It will be a six hour game but he will let him throw.

It'll be great for anyone with insomnia.

BTW: I am still waiting to see his gyroball.

I don't see how he can be very effective this year. Pitchers need at least half a season to regain sharpness with these types of injuries.

Regaining arm strength, stamina, and the ability to recover between outings will take time.
