During the broadcast they said he felt it prior to his game vs Chicago and he was still feeling it today. Otherwise, they avoided the subject

So i read this story tonite that Cook was spiked at homeplate in the 2nd, was allowed to stay in, and promptly got bombed in the 3rd--to put the game out of reach. After which he was removed and got 13 stitches in his leg.

 

So the guy was kept in the game with a gash that required 13 stitches?

 

And then I read that Middlebrooks was held out of the game because he felt a slight twinge in his hamstring.

 

Sounds a little inconsistent to me.

V explained that what with the condition of the pen when Cook said he wanted to pitch V decided to let him try it telling him to say so if he was in trouble.

 

I do tend to think V had to make the decision one way or the other at that point. Cook was not going to come out of that game without trying everything he could try to pitch. He could easily have hurt his arm throwing the way he was. This was such a screwed up day. If the press box fell forward onto home plate I would not have been surprised today.

How many runs did he give up before they took him out? Are they interested in eating innings or winning games? Now there's the question.

Oh gosh, that inning the O's had a field day. They got 7 in that inning I think....maybe 5 off of Cook???
