Another blow to the Mets franchise which continues to deteriorate. They have been losing a substantial segment of their fan base over the last several years. It all started with their 2007 collapse.

Marlins people are saying it's still possible Hanley Ramirez could move to center field but a source close to Ramirez says he's already agreed to play third base, tweets Jayson Stark of ESPN.com.

Remember when we thought the Marlins were just trying to get some press by offering lowball contracts? Looks like they were actually legit, and rumor has it that they're still pushing for Pujols.

well they have a brand new stadium that's opening next year, if they plan to sell tickets they're gonna have to spend money to make money

Right, but everyone thought the Marlins were bluffing just to get some press. In actuality, they were dead serious about signing the big names.

Well 700, we won't be losing any substantial segment of our fan base since Red Sox fans are made of a sterner stuff than Mets fans are, but we're capable of getting pretty pissed off and making our feelings known and we have the Boston Press to help us in that cause. I do believe, though, that a few more personnel mistakes by the Red Sox front office can see our cause start to deteriorate as well. I think this winter is critical is holding on and making the right decisions. The team has to start thinking with their heads and not their hearts or their asses and I'm beginning to think that Cherington might just be in over his head.

Once again, yes, it is early, but is starting to slip away. Two closers are already gone and ours is too, we are talking about signing Ortiz when we need pitching and some RH pop and it seems there is some agreement that Cherington moves in three ways---slow, slower and slowest. Now there's talk from some people that not much is expected from the Red Sox at these Winter Meetings. If not now, then when?

The Mets need to do a full out rebuild. Deal off Wright now and then see if Santana could recoup his value. If Santana comes back and shows he can still pitch at ace level, then you deal him midseason
