Why does the best player in baseball not have a thread here already?

3 home runs last night. He joined Babe Ruth and Reggie Jackson as the only players to hit three in a World Series game.

Pujols also tied a World Series record with six RBIs in the game.

Watch this space. Its going to be an interesting offseason.

I will be surprised if his 3 HR (and Hall of Fame performance overall) don't get him signed back in St. Louis. I'm not sure which other teams would make sense for him, or which could justify the last 5 years of a 10 year deal in which he is more A-Rod than Babe Ruth. Maybe the Cubs, but I suspect they will push for Prince Fielder.

Do the Mets have the money to make a push? Anyone else that seems primed to make a move?

Gotta' agree with e1 on this one. Cards have been preparing for this year and I just don't think that at the end of the day Albert will want to leave. I suspect that the Cards will make the numbers attractive enough and I just don't think Albert cares about being in the limelight of NY or Boston when he can be the undisputed king of St. Louis, playing on a team that oh by the way manages to make the playoffs and play well enough there to often make it to the WS.

If Albert gets an inkling that LaRussa might be done with baseball that might have an impact.

I would have thought he might be interested in going to a yearly contender when the Cards were struggling earlier in the year and didn't appear to have a chance of winning a WS. Now they look like a team perfectly capable of getting to the WS any particular year with the right combination of role players and getting hot at the right time.

The Red Sox, Yankees, Phillies, Tigers, Twins, White Sox, all have very good hitters at 1B already. But that doesn't mean no one is going to want the best hitter in baseball.

The Cubs have money to spend. The Mets cut a lot of payroll this offseason and could probably make a whole lot of the contract back simply because of their market. The Cardinals are an obvious choice. The Nationals want to be a big market team. And what better consolation prize for the Brewers if they lose Fielder?

It's not only about the teams that may want to sign Pujols but the teams he may want to go to. I'd cross out the Nationals and Mets from that list because of that.

Yeah the slang now is wierd. He's an adult though.

That term has been used for decades.

Dough is not a new slang for money by quite some time.

http://www.businessballs.com/moneyslanghistory.htm

"dough - money. Mid-1800s slang obvious alternative for the slang bread. Dough later (1940s) also referred specifically to counterfeit money in underworld and criminal society."

There are some good ones in there. Some that I didn't even know. Hah

Seriously' date=' dough is even listed in the Dictionary itself as slang for money.[/quote']

Looks like User Name (yeah nice, original name there  ) has outed himself as the thing he accused a member of being. Fantastic fail. lol

Hearing the Blue Jays want Ortiz' date=' I think Boston will make a series run at Albert[/quote']

No chance in hell are we going to have a $25MM DH. Unless you plan on moving Adrian.

Pujols is NOT coming to Boston and I'm glad. I cannot stand him in interviews, he seems like an idiot. Just my opinion.

He's blocked by AGon.

You do need a RF tho ;) haha

I think he signs with the Cubs for 6 years 165 million.

And accept less money and years than what the Cardinals already offered him?

Oh I didn't even know they offered him that much. What was their offer?

According to ESPN, the Nationals may make a stealth offer of 10/300. They are assuming he resigns with the Cards at 9/243 tho. Regardless, he's gonna get PAID. I honestly can't justify more than 5/140, but that's just the rational side of me trying to understand a 37 y/o 1B making $28M for another 4 years.
