The upside to the Sox missing the playoffs is that it becomes more likely that Francona will not be resigned ( according to Rosenthall). While Theo is under contract for 2012' date=' Tito is not. However, wouldn't the Sox need to extend Theo before hiring a new manager? If Theo leaves after 2012, a new GM doesn't want to be stuck with the old GM's manager.[/quote']

Last I heard the Sox were planning on exercising Tito's options... I could be wrong though

Colon has thrown at the Trop one time this year, and he's got a 1.42 ERA (6.1 IP, 1 ER).

Let's hope he can replicate that success and beat the Rays tonight. And let's hope that the pressure wears on Hellickson, and he has zero control.

Joel Sherman of the NY Post reporting that the Yankees "will probably throw best of pen tonite, so this is likely best chance to beat Rays. Tomorrow it is Scranton v. Rays"

Win tonight. Watch the Yankees beat the Rays.

Go into tomorrow with the lead, and let Lester throw his ass off for this team. And put heaps and heaps of pressure on David Price to throw the ball well.

Are we joking with this lineup??

Lowrie hitting FOURTH in the biggest must-win game of the year?

We've got a top 5 hitter in the AL hitting 5th??

We've got Darnell Mcdonald playing RF instead of Conor Jackson, who is 2/3 against Britton with a HR?

Wow. This better freaking work.

It reminds me of a coed softball league that I played in for work. The idiot manager decided to go with a boy-girl-boy-girl lineup. The guys got walked and we never scored any runs. What is he thinking about putting Lowrie between Ortiz and Agon. He has lost it.

Have you seen David Price in high pressure situations??

Last game, against TOR, he was throwing the ball all over the place. He let up 5 runs, but only 2 of them were earned. The other 3 were on his own errors. He does not throw well under pressure. Just look at last year's post season numbers. 4.97 ERA.

Rays lose on Wednesday. And if Colon can somehow muster up a decent start, the Yankees can beat Hellickson as well.

That's all well and good, but you're conveniently leaving out the highest pressure situation he has ever pitched in.

If the Sox miss the the playoffs, it will probably surpass the Yanks all-time choke in 2004 simply because it unraveled over a longer period of time and, with most pundits claiming it could never happen. Red Sox Nation will demand someones head for this legendary embarrassment with this $$$$ roster. Who else but the manager can you hold responsible for a roster that pretty much gave up on the season by mid-August.

....woah hold the f*** on. What are Lowrie's numbers vs Britton?

If he's not batting over .500 against him then this is one of Francona biggest wtf moments.

Jed Lowrie against Britton .000/.000/.000 in 3 PA

I can't even contain my anger against Francona right now, get him the hell out of there.

OK, that line-up is s***. Lowrie at clean-up? Why, because of a couple of good games?

Ah, nevermind, this team needs some inspiration right now. If even the great Ric Flair can't do the job, perhaps this man can. This is the intensity level we need to be playing at tonight. Let's just press slam Andino's ass.

I have a jam session tonight with some people, and I have a feeling I will be driving them crazy checking my cell phone for the score. I don't have a good feeling about this, but maybe we'll be rewarded....and to think of all those stories I heard from my grandfather as a child about 1949. That's child's play about now.

God I love your posts

If only we had pitched Pedro Curt Bruce Luis Aceves in every game this Sept we'd be setting the rotation for October and they'd be polishing the Cy Young Award for him

uh... this has already become the greatest baseball collapse in 20 years.

I'll hold up on the rant until I actually see what Lowrie does. It might work out but regardless he has no business being in the number 4 spot. I hope that HR he hit didn't fool Francona because he still hasn't produced much. However, if he goes 0-4 and leaves runners stranded I think he should get some s*** for it. I'm honestly shocked about this but we'll have to wait and see what happens. If it turns out good then I really can't complain so I'll wait it out.

It truly amazes me that I am stuck working my f***ing ass off every day for not a ton of money to get the opportunity to watch the sox at night while Francona's sorry ass gets paid a f*** ton to do s*** and make a decision of batting f***ing jed lowrie in the cleanup spot....this is beyond stupid and perplexes me why tito just doesnt hire me....I love francona and will always remember what he did for boston but i think its time for him to go....he is responsible for what has happened to us and he needs to pay his consequence
