  1. I understand Bailey wasn't available today as he worked 4 out of the last 5 days. The issue stems back to yesterday. If Bailey has been used so much, why have him start an inning with a four run lead against KC? Another pitcher should've been able to close that out, and then you can go to Bailey for the 1 run lead the next night.
  2. Here goes nothing.... A-GON WITH THE WIND - Frankly Red Sox Nation, they don't give a damn THE BOBBY VALENTINE'S DAY MASSACRE THE BECKETT LIST BRINGING UP BAILEY PEDEY'S PLAYHOUSE PLAN 9 FROM YAWKEY WAY
  3. San Francisco needs a bat even more so than we need pitching, and they have tons of starting pitchers to help us out. Tim Lincecum is not only a phenomenal pitcher and former Cy young winner, he, along with Brian Wilson, also has a marketable persona and as long as he keeps performing, it would be in San Francisco's best interest to hold onto Lincecum the same way we should hold onto Ellsbury. But Matt Cain? Yeah, no team would want to part with him, but with The Giants so loaded in starting pitching and in such a desperate need of a bat, surely Boston can find a way to get Cain. Glad somebody else agrees with me on this one, I've been thinking it for weeks now and it makes good sense. I would be thrilled to see Matt Cain in a Red Sox uniform.
  4. First off, no way in hell you trade Ellsbury at this point. I know his value is high, but he should be untouchable right now and the front office needs to do whatever it takes to keep him, Boras be damned. I also don't see Lincecum leaving the Giants, but since they need offense and we need pitching, I think a more reasonable trade would be Kevin Youkilis and a couple of prospects for Matt Cain.
  5. Who should be fired? I admittedly do not know every responsibility of every member of the coaching staff, it's not one of my strong points, but all I do know is we've had two seasons in a row where we start off slow as hell and can't keep our team healthy an entire season. Whoever has the job of being responsible for the health of this team, be it the manager, coaches, medical staff, whatever, should go, and I would think the owners of this team should be able to figure that out. Maintaining a healthy team for an entire season, no matter who's actually playing for us, should be a priority before anything else. Let's make sure we have the right staff to get the best out of our guys from game 1 to game 162 and beyond. These past two seasons have been a total failure on that front. While we're at it, I'm all for removing John Lackey if humanly possible. That said, I realize he has three years and a lot of money still owed to him, but hopefully they'll be able to find a way to creatively remove or at the very least find a role where he can succeed. He's a horrible pitcher these days and by certain accounts has an attitude problem as well - not a good combination. But to sum things up, health, numero uno in priorities.
  6. Agreed, the irony of the way we lost and the Rays won is not lost on me considering it was like this for a whole month. Like the rest of us, I'm a bit shell shocked right now. Don't know what else to say other than this team deserved it. If you can't hold a 9 game lead in September, you don't deserve to play in the post-season. I'm really fascinated to see how this off-season goes now, there's no way some changes won't be made, but the question is what. By the way, my mother's a big Red sox fan, and her sister, who lives in Florida, is a huge Braves fan. I wonder what their next phone conversation's gonna be like?
  7. OK, that line-up is s***. Lowrie at clean-up? Why, because of a couple of good games? Ah, nevermind, this team needs some inspiration right now. If even the great Ric Flair can't do the job, perhaps this man can. This is the intensity level we need to be playing at tonight. Let's just press slam Andino's ass. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pb9aAXo-u78 I have a jam session tonight with some people, and I have a feeling I will be driving them crazy checking my cell phone for the score. I don't have a good feeling about this, but maybe we'll be rewarded....and to think of all those stories I heard from my grandfather as a child about 1949. That's child's play about now.
  8. Posted soemthing in wrong thread, ignore this.
  9. The bullpen would be fine in Papelbon's hand as he long as he keeps his dog away from them.
  10. Whoever is involved in the conditioning of this team, especially but not limited to the pitchers, should be let go. This is a team who obviously is out of shape and cannot play a 162 game season. I think players should come into spring training in shape and ready to play once the season begins (avoiding 2 - 10 starts), and I think out pitchers need to go 200 innings and pitch deeper into ball games, not blowing up in September. These needs should be addressed. and the owners should know who's responsible and do something about it. PS: Francona may or may not be fired, but I gotta say, the idea of Eck as manager brought a smile to my face.
  11. This is beyond awful. I was in utero during the Bucky Dent shot and the '78 collapse, I've seen some incredibly tough postseason losses, but never a regular season collapse like this. Wow. No clutch in us whatsoever until the 14th inning, and we have nothing close to an ace right now. An ace would not blow two leads and then give up four runs with two outs. I would love to have a starter where we can have a 1 - 0 lead, 2 - 0 lead, and feel like he can hold it. I live in Delaware with a lot of Philly fans, and I always tell them they have no clue how lucky they have it. I have a feeling my worst nightmare might come true, a one game playoff in Tampa.
  12. Lars Anderson turns into Lars Ulrich. I knew Tito pinch running for Gonzo would bite us.
  13. Great job by Paps man, great job. The man has redeemed himself this year, then some. I would love to manufacture a run here then pray to every deity we can that somebody will save this thing.
  14. Sooooooooo........does this start the Papelbon as starter debate again? Forgive me, I need some levity now, this game is stressful.
  15. For once, can we get a clutch hit?
  16. This Romine kid...I got his Dad's autograph at a game when I was a kid. Food for thought, let's say we get through the 10th, let's say we get a lead, who closes? Paps, bard, and Aceves are unavailable. Atchinson is hurt, Albers was used earlier today. Do we go to Morales? Bowden? This is scary to think about.
  17. I want to sign C.J. Wilson because he will be a much needed reliable starter and we won't have to face him anymore. Another pitcher who owns us.
  18. Exactly, I hinted at that. He did pitch well in game 7 of the '08 ALCS, but got out dueled by Garza, who we just flat out could not hit.
  19. You may be onto something. He did win a World Series clincher, but we were up 3 games to 0.
  20. I wonder if Lester is healthy, this just ain't like him these last three starts.
  21. I'm not sure if Francona is done, but all I know is if Boston does not make the playoffs, something big is probably going to go down. You don't go on a free agent spree with 100 win and World Series expectations only to blow a 10 game playoff lead in the last five or six weeks of the season without some changes. This would also be the second year in a row without a playoff spot. We can blame Tito, we can blame Theo, but ultimately, Henry, Werner and Luchino own this team and it's up to THEM to make the most important decisions. Whether it's Tito, Theo, the head janitor, I don't know, but I'd sure as hell hope they'd figure that out.
