ANOTHER FKIN KILLER LOSS. blame francoma for this one, completely. bard's all used up for now, either in his arm/shoulder, or his head, or both...but had no business being in there after the bad throw on the bunt.....

and who were the brilliant members who saiud get rid of Pap and make Bard the closer. seems like a good idea to me

What kind of deal would you give him? 16 a year for 4/5 years?

The fallacy of replacing a reliever every inning is evident in this game. You keep changing relievers until you find somebody the other team can hit. That's what it often amounts to. Never used to be that way.

Absolutely. What would have been the problem with letting Aceves keep going?

Plus, I'm sure that the "one inning and gone" approach can't be good for the pitchers' arms (says the guy who knows absolutely nothing about it). I mean, sure, if a reliever goes in and has a good inning, maybe he only throws 10-15 pitches. But there's all the getting loose and warming up. Do that night after night after night and it can't be a good thing. Maybe it'd be better to have 2, maybe 3 guys in the pen who know that on any given night, the innings left after the SP leaves are theirs. And that they'll get a couple of days off if they warm up and pitch 2-3 innings.

Aaaaaand we lose. Drat.

college coach, friend of mine says never let a tired pitcher lose the lead for you. we can add to that "never let a tired arm come out of the bullpen to try and hold the lead"

infuriating loss. unbelievable. bard needs to get his s*** together because he's cost this team 3 wins already this month.
He's been over-used. This is the result. He is fatigued and he has lost his command. The same thing has been going on with Albers for 6 weeks, but they keep going to him. They'll have to keep going to bard too and there will be mote of this. Tito doesn't have the luxury of not going to Bard. Our starters can't pitch deep into games. The horse s*** starting staff that we have had for the entire season has taken its toll on one of our few reliable bullpen arms. The lack of quality starts has been an issue all season long and it went completely unaddressed.

Since there will be no opportunity to rest him, I doubt that he can return to the dominant form that he had earlier in the season.

Calm down everyone. It was a John Lackey start' date=' the Sox were supposed to lose.[/quote']The few times that he gives the team a chance to win, it has to be locked down.

The sox are a full 44 innings up on the Yankees in pen innings. That's nearly 5 games worth. Package that with a less effective pen and you get this result. Your key guys get abused and your pen is dead when you need it most

This team is laughable right now.

They absolutely dont deserve to be in the playoffs. I hope Rays overtake them.

That will teach them a valuable lesson.

What? Was it a day game? I thought it was at night...and we already lost since Bard s*** the bed again? Really? Wasn't Lackey's fault?...Wow!

At least the O's are winning after 6. Who would say that part of our future dangles on O's abilities

I just checked out the box score and Crawford went 0-4, Why it doesn't surprise me anymore? Whata waste!

True, the organization needs a shakeup it won't get if they make the playoffs.

As a team, they are underachieving. That's always a management problem.
