This team is monumentally s***** the last few series. The bullpen's been blowing up, Beckett's hurt, and Lackey is starting to revert back to the first half version that everyone wanted to run out of town. Not even me, in all my widly apologist and optimistic glory, am going to try and say we've been anything but s*****. This, in my opinion, is one of the worst streaks since the 2-10. I do believe this team is gonna make the playoffs and make some noise once they get there, but the Sox need to start playing like a team that belongs beneath the bright lights of October baseball. One positive is that New York hasn't exactly pulled away from us, the division is still very winnable. They've had tons of chances to widen their lead in the division and they haven't done so, they're letting us hang around. If we can just get our s*** back together and play to the level this team has been performing at for most of the year, we could find ourself back in 1st very quickly.

Wakefield can't keep being allowed to start, same with Miller. Try someone from AAA because maybe they'll come up and give us at least something more than 5 runs a start and a pre fifth inning exit. Both of those guys are guaranteed blow-ups, Miller's Texas start was obviously an outlier. Hopefully Bedard can get back onto the mound soon and same with Josh. Things aren't looking pretty right now but we're still in a good position to make the postseason.

The Yankees arent exactly lighting it up either, they're now on a 3 game losing streak and we should have taken advantage of it but didnt....

Josh Beckett throwing in the outfield

By Peter Abraham, Globe Staff

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Josh Beckett is in left field at the Trop throwing to bullpen catcher Mani Martinez.

Curt Young and head athletic trainer Mike Reinold are keeping an eye on things.

Beckett is throwing from distance, which is usually what a pitcher does before taking a bullpen session two days later. As you know, Beckett is recovering from a sprained right ankle. This is the first time he has thrown since leaving Monday's game in the fourth inning.

UPDATE, 3:26 p.m.: Beckett said he felt good and that his next step will be throwing off the mound in the bullpen.

That's a good sign. "I'm feeling a lot better, he said.

This loss is not Weiland's fault. He has been put into an impossible situation, trying to win a game for these LOSERS all by himself. I don't blame him. He will eventually be fine.

Its very important that the Rays not only win tonite, but tomorrow as well. They MUST win the WC if EPSTINK is going to be given his pink slip. He will have nowhere to hide if this team blows the WC. Its what has to happen for success in future years. We all know it.

Weiland's been battling and so far has kept us in the game. Can't really ask for more from a kid making his 3rd start. Unfortunately, Hellickson, and all these Rays pitchers, are tough, but hopefully we'll come back today. We could really use a win now.

Agree, he was sent to the wolves, but at least is working better than the other bulks.
