Biggest series of the year so far. Sox and Yanks are tied for the East, and someone will leave Boston with a lead.

Yes, both teams will make the playoffs, but the difference between (as it stands now) hosting Detroit/Cleveland, and playing Texas/LAoA on the road, is pretty big. So let's re-claim the lead.

Tonight: Jon Lester (11-4, 3.17) vs. Bartolo Colon (8-6, 3.30)

Win.

I can't wait...just WIN.

Would you start with Scutaro or Aviles?

I would go with Aviles.

Carl Crawford breaks out for this series in a big way. Lester, since coming off the DL, has been ridiculous, 2.03 ERA in 2 starts, 14 K, 3 BB. Lester is going to absolutely dominate this game.

WIN!!!!!!

I think it depends on Lowrie. If Lowrie comes back, he needs to play against Sabathia. Dude kills LHP.

I hope they get a sweep. This would mean much more than the previous sweeps. For some reason I'm kind of nervous about this series.

Sox should win tonight, Lester has been absolutely lights out recently, and Ellsbury and Crawford can bunt all day on Colon's fatass. The guy can't get off the mound at all. Game 2, CC is going to be tough to beat, especially with Lackey on the mound. Game 3 is going to be a disaster for the Yankees.

Sox take games 1 and 3. If Lackey can man up, Sox could sweep. We do hit CC well.

See we "should" win a lot of games but we don't always get the win. I like Lester over Colon of course but fat ass has been pitching pretty good. Oh and forget bunting you know how the Sox are haha. I know we beat up on CC but usually Beckett is pitching. I have faith in Lackey but he better not have one of those games, especially since all of a sudden the Yankees offense has become the Red Sox offense. Like I said I don't know what to expect this series. I'll take the series win any day but I'd love the satisfaction of sweeping these pigs leaving their ass 3 GB and so I can trash talk all the Yankees fans that are hiding from me this year.

If we lose 2 of 3, or god forbid we get swept, I'm staying away from this forum for a week. I can only take so much complaining.

You mean you don't act in public how you act on this forum? I'm shocked.

Enjoy the game, please don't bring any mobile devices.

I've always wanted to go to a Sox/Yankees game at Fenway....so I can throw peanuts at them. Hopefully that doesn't happen to you(nose grows bigger). Have fun ;)

+1...

No matter what but next season I'll be there.. promise! :D

I will be too..possibly this year playoff time.

I'll be heading to my first game at Fenway since 1997 this year. I'm hitting up the Sox/Yanks on 9/1 and the Sox/Rangers on 9/4. And I pretty much pee myself every night in anticipation.

You should see a doctor about that.

He said it happens to him too. Mostly at night. And usually it's not pee. Not sure what he meant though.

Probably happens whenever he has a dream about Montero

I want to beat the Yankees because they're the Yankees but there really isn't all that much pressure. We're 8-1 against them, we have a 99.9% chance of making the playoffs and whether we have to face Texas or Detroit with Velander pitching twice is pretty much a wash in my mind. Plus there is a slight benefit to being in second place in August and September, we'd get a crack at the waiver wire before the Yankees. I just hope the Yankees keep things interesting so we're playing meaningful games up until the end of the season. Teams that play out the end of the season without any urgency don't tend to do well in the playoffs.

I'd rather face Verlander at home than Texas in Arlington. That's why it matters to me. We've been able to beat Verlander once, and we've lost to him once, mainly because Bard got hit hard.

Sox are 8-4 vs DET over the past two years (5-1 in 2011), whereas we're 4-9 (0-3 in 2011) against TEX.
