I'm sure you'd like to believe that a poor second start off the DL means he isn't what he used to be, and perhaps you even truly believe that. But the truth is all of his peripherals are more or less in line with his career averages, if not better.

 

Among the 2011 stats that are better than his career numbers - ERA, WHIP, H/9, BB/9, K/9, K/BB, xFIP. His FIP is 0.02 points higher than his career average. As is often the case, your opinion is not based in reality.

The AL East? That division? The one he has done most of his career work in and has a 3.83 ERA and a 1.3 WHIP? Where he struck out 8.7 per 9 and had a 2.90 K/BB?

 

Or the AL West that has good offensive teams like Texas and L.A?

And It's not been easy for a LH before 2007 to pitch as a VISITOR at Fenway park since the Red Sox's lineup was very strong against lefties back then.

Bedard didn't look too bad, I like what I saw. Very annoying series though. It bothers me that we couldn't really outplay the Guardians. At this point I would be pleasantly surprised with 2/3 wins from the Yankees this weekend.
