Salty has been looking pretty good the last 2 months and I'm interested to see how he continues to progress. If we could get Yadier without much hassle, I'd be for it. This team has bigger needs right now though, primarily starting pitching.

This is a stupid question to ask without any context. It's like asking, "Would you rather have Jon Lester or Justin Verlander?" All you've asked is "Who's the better player, Salty or Molina?"

If we're assuming it's pick one or the other, rather than assuming the salary, transaction costs, and especially if we're saying in general rather than just this year, I'd definitely take Yadier Molina over Salty.

Just a random thought, mostly. I wanted to see what you guys brought to the table on this one. Call it heat-induced sanity if you want to.

Although there may be an opportunity to pick up Yadi if the the Cards become desperate to keep Pujols, soooooo...

I'd stay with Salty, we're getting above-average offense from him (at least as far as catchers go), competent defense, and Varitek's been mentoring him and we know how good of a catcher Jason has turned out to be. I hope we lock Salty up for the relatively long term after this year, one because I think he's going to be a very important part of this team and two so that I can buy his jersey without worrying about him going to another team.

I don't follow the NL much. I know he's good defensively, but wonder if it's just because of his last name.

I'm happy with Salty. SS, RF, and another SP are much more important at this point.
