Making this game thread early because I get on pretty late and don't want a new poster to ruin the mojo.

Felix Hernandez vs John Lackey

Now I know you guys are thinking "oh great we lost" but Wakefield did beat Felix earlier this season and the Mariners are a big bag full of suck right now. They've lost 12 in a row. Hopefully they don't break the streak on us. Win!

Damn, so when we hope for the sweep we hope for Seattle to go on a 15 game loosing streak. That's rough. SWEEP 'EM!

Felix may be good but the Red Sox can find his weak spots and take advantage. Ellsbury-Pedroia are a 1-2 punch.

This might be the only chance the Mariners have of breaking their streak

king felix and lackey...... my stomache is already in knots thinking about what could possibly happen.... or maybe this is just what lackey needs to snap back into it.... get a win and regain some swagger....

Is John Lackey the same as Tim Wakefield? Didn't think so.

We can't let them break their streak. And FWIW, If my memory isn't mistaken, Lackey went 6 and gave up 2 ER last time he faced Seattle. Felix isn't Felix so far this year, let's make the king a peasent tonight.

Never know. Lackey looked outstanding against the Orioles, and the Mariners have a much worse offense than the O's. Hopefully he has his game today. I can see Lackey throwing a shut out, and I can also see him getting bombed for 8 runs in 2 innings.

@Thunder- That wasn't my point smart ass. When we had that matchup everyone was like "Oh great Felix vs Wakefield we lost". We ended up winning that game even though they had the advantage and no one or mostly everyone thought we'd lose.

He does pretty damn good against Boston though. Look up the numbers.

He does for sure, but last time the Sox faced Felix, our offense was abysmal, and Youk didn't play. Here's the boxscore , check out the averages at that game/average now:

Ellsbury: .265/.316

Pedroia: .265/.293

Gonzalez: .312/.343

Ortiz: .267/.294

Drew: .257/ will not play, REDDICK .378

Lowrie: .361/ will not play, YOUK .281

Scutaro: .175/.259

Crawford: .168/.247

Salty: .204/.249

By no means am I saying we will definitely have success against Felix, I'm just saying this team is a completely different offensive team now than it was when we faced him earlier. Our offense was beyond struggling back then.

This is where we start pulling away from New York, we have a littany of s***** teams coming up. I think we'll be looking at a much more cozy lead than 2 games in a week or two.

The Sox have Seattle, Kansas City and Chicago coming up, but the Yankees have Oakland, Seattle and Baltimore.

The Yankees better hope they're close to us in the standings after this month because if not we get to pound their face in August.

Their fans really think 2009 means something, they think we're not gonna continue to dominate their asses. Well I can't wait for us to beat their f***in' asses 9 more times, one of which I will be in attendance.

Hey me too! September 1st, by any chance?

I can't wait to see a lineup with Ortiz, Crawford and Reddick and without Drew. Our #8 hitter is going to have a .778 OPS. We're a Lester and a Buchholz away from a juggernaut of a team.

Well, 2009 was a memory you should have. This series almost always evens out. Now, I do think the sox are the better team this yr, but a few tweaks at the deadline and that wont be the case. My guess is the sox take the season series with 10 wins this yr, meaning the Yanks are gonna take some games pretty soon

Jacko, read this very carefully. The Yankees will continue to be dominated by the Red Sox this season. The season series will be decidedly in Boston's favor at the end of the year, mark my words. I'd bet my left nut on it.
