The mojo shall not be interrupted.

Andrew Miller gets a cushy Sox debut against the worst offense in baseball. Let's hope he can live up to his potential.

Miller (NR) v. LeBlanc (0-2, 4.26)

Achieve victory.

Never been excited about a start. This is most likely his last chance to succeed as a pitcher in the majors.I hope he has fixed his mechanics.

Anyone with that much past hype and pedigree will get another shot. Teams are always willing to make that kind of investment.

High hopes for this kid's start. I think the most important thing to see is good command of his pitches.

I don't know' date=' getting the Marlins anywhere right now would be a pretty good debut...[/quote']

From the Red Sox point of view, sure, but strictly from Miller's point of view as an offense to face, I'd rather face San Diego than Florida.

For all those of you who are excited to see Rizzo' date=' he's hitting .148. If I was a Padre fan, I'd want to burn down Petco Park.[/quote']

With a .361 OBP. 27 AB is far too small a sample size for a rookie. We know the guy lit it up in AAA. That being said, the chances of him outperforming A-gon are slim to none.

I am absolutely pumped up to see Andrew Miller. From his past few games in AAA, it looks like he's making big strides in the right direction. If he can harness that potential and pump his 97-99 mph fastball with that filthy slider, can you imagine this rotation?!? Beckett - Lester - Buch - Miller - Lackey. He could be an absolutely enormous boost to this clubs rotation. I know scouts compared him to Randy Johnson, and imagining this rotation with Randy Johnson just isn't fair.

Oh man, comparing him to Randy Johnson already?

Is it just me, or has this team seems to get progressively more fun to watch at this season goes on?

The beginning was painful, the next set of games made us all very anxious, then some of the close games around the 40-50 game mark drove us all crazy, but over the last 20 games or so, it has been a lot easier to enjoy this team. Vintage Papelbon, Beckett, Ortiz and Wakefield seasons, A-gon with 2/3 of a triple crown, and watching the depth of this organization thrive? I don't miss April

He's been compared to Randy Johnson since around the time he got drafted. I've heard that comparison a thousand times already

I remember Cameron Maybin, him and Andrew Miller were traded for Miguel Cabrera.. Good trade for the Marlins.

You could have said the same about the Giants last year. :)

If it weren't for fantasy baseball I'd probably be asking something similar. Fantasy baseball is probably the only reason I know anything about players that aren't on the Sox or Yankees.

Sure, but it stopped after he failed in the majors the first couple times.

Control and location for Miller will be a key.You can throw 100 miles per hour but if your location sucks then u will be hit hard in the big leagues.

Good, I hope it's in place of that hack Drew.

And listening to A-God talk about hitting is awesome. The guy is a genius.

Adrian talking about hitting.

Are pitch recognition and plate discipline the same thing?

AG: They’re different, because you can recognize a pitch and hit it even though it’s out of the strike zone. Plate discipline means that you’re not going to swing at balls. A guy who has really good pitch recognition can hit pitches out of the zone for singles, doubles and even home runs. Look at a guy like Vladimir Guerrero. He’s got pitch recognition, whereas a guy who walks a lot might have plate discipline, but not recognition.

What do a lot of fans not understand about hitting?

AG: That hitting has evolved. It’s not the same that it was 10-15 years ago. Back then it was “go get the ball, hit it out front,” and now it’s “let it get to you, stay behind the ball, and make sure that your weight stays back.”
