For real as a .500 team, sure.

I know it's way too early to look at the standings, but the Sox are now tied for the wild card lead. That's kinda cool considering the start.

I'll take the 1-0 win. A win is a win no matter how big the lead. Now lets hope Beckett outduels Verlander tomorrow. That's going to be a great game.

No kidding.

They have allowed a combined 1 ER over their past 35.1 IP.

Verlander: 17 IP, 1 ER

Beckett: 18.1 IP, 0 ER

There's a word for that. Retarded.

btw i don't know you, but every time we win (even knowing the W-L columns already) i love to look at those standings, specially when we are this close to the leader. hehehe.

I'm grateful for any win, but is anyone here the least bit scared that our entire offensive output rode on Salty's swing?

Not so much, I see it as a bright spot. He's contributing and swinging a good bat and Monday we won because of the top of our line up. When we can rely on anyone in our line up to deliver it is a good thing. Just my opinion

The other thing I'm thankful for is that Crawford drew the walk and not Tek or Big Papi. Scoring form first with last night's conditions with a "base jogger" might not have been a sure thing.

I hope Crawford remembers how to hit before his walk year ...

If it was 80 degrees on a cloudless July night, I would be a little worried. But that weather was absolutely nasty. It was disgusting. We all know what our offense is capable of. I look at that win and say "5th win in a row, back to back last-AB wins, and we smoked quite a few balls right at people". Not worried in the least. Plus, 6 of our next 7 games are against RHP, and our game against the LHP (Doug Davis of CHC), lefties hit .282 against him.

BTW - Just looked at Phil Coke's splits - lefties are hitting .172 off of him. No wonder Crawford and Gonzo couldn't do anything last night.

You mean 2017? I think he'll figure it out.

Only Ellsbury or Crawford could have scored from first on that hit last night.

I must say, watching that game last night, Coke's delivery is just nasty on lefties. It's pretty clear our guy's had an awfully tough time picking the ball up out of his hand.
