If it is true it is about as meaningless to the Red Sox and their fate as is possible. Not going to NY, not going to TEX or LAA. Random NL team is just fine as far as I'm concerned.

The Brewers acquired ace righty Zack Greinke from the Royals, confirms ESPN's Buster Olney. Milwaukee will reportedly send shortstop Alcides Escobar, center fielder Lorenzo Cain, and pitching prospects Jeremy Jeffress and Jake Odorizzi to the Royals for Greinke, shortstop Yuniesky Betancourt, and $2MM.

 

Heyman tweets that an official announcement, which was originally going to happen Monday, is now planned for this afternoon.

Peter Gammons of the MLB Network indicates (via Twitter) that a player to be named later, rather than Jeffress, is heading to Kansas City. Escobar, Cain, and Odorizzi are still involved in the deal

 

Nice deal on both side I believe. KC got the up the middle talent they where looking for. Grienke to NY never made sense.
