How do signing bonuses affect luxury tax implications?

It doesn't. It'a all about AAV.

Luxury Tax is calculated based on contract average value, not the actual year's cost. This means that since Lester signed a 5 year/$30 million contract, although he is being paid $3.75 million this year, for the sake of Luxury Tax, he counts as costing $6 million a year. This number also includes signing bonuses split over the life of the contract, so if a player signed a 3 year/$3 million contract but was given a $15 million signing bonus, he would also count as being $3 million each year for the CBT. So again, backloading or frontloading contracts does not affect the CBT.

His broken english?

I finally saw the video. He sounds like a Southern Black man (born and raised in Texas) He speaks normal English not broken. Throat obviously giving him problems.

He's not living up to our normal All-Star left fielder standards of speech? I think I'll live.

I've seen him interviewed several times. He's actually affable, introspective, and reasonably articulate. Today he was clearly ill. He was running a fever. And his throat was pretty sore.

And he certainly knows how to dress!

That chick to the right is reaching for something ;)

She better not bump Jacoby's ribs in the process. Those ribs are worth millions of dollars.

Papelbon looks like a total d-bag in that picture. You know the type' date=' the guys that wear sunglasses, golden chains and s***** cologne to night clubs. Basically your typical Eurotrash metrosexual.[/quote']

He looks like that in all the pictures where he's out in Boston. I think that's just who he is as a person.

Maybe the metrosexual's are bigger in Europe.:dunno:

I would agree that men are much more pampered and into their looks here. Not that it is a bad thing. Just more then what I was used to growing up in Maine and Florida :D

A man's size has nothing to do with him being a metrosexual. It's about the way they behave, dress, groom etc.
