This thread may be legitimate but it is also ridiculous at this point in time. Who knows who will even be with the team at the start of ST.

 

Considering we've been debating who will be on the team in the hot stove pretty indepth, I don't see how a simple contest based on our predictions is ridiculous at all.

"People of color" always reminds me of the term "colored people", which I guess had been the PC term of the '50's before it became a pejorative in the 60's as it was replaced with black. It seems that things are going in circles.

I've always found that any reference to any minority generally will be viewed as a racial slur given time. Currently "black" seems acceptable, but I'm skeptical how long it will last. The trick is to call them by a randomly thought of caucasian race, like Swiss, or Russian, and let them correct you. Then, repeat their terminology.

I did check that out. The games start early this year-- first game is February 26th. I also noticed that they are not going on sale until January 8th. In recent years they had gone on sale a whole month earlier. Maybe they have some exciting acquisitions in store for us and they don't want to put them for sale until they get us all charged up with some new players.

Now, back to the thread topic, one of the reasons I will not actually answer is because I tend not to know or understand a lot about acquisitions. I don't really have any idea how to guess who the Sox will sign in the offseason, so my roster would have a lot of holes. I've always been less-than-great when it comes to the 'business' side of baseball. I'm more of a 'on the field' guy, which includes stats and stuff. Contracts, free agency, drafts, and all that? I have no clue.

 

I will say though that I am confident that Dustin Pedroia will be playing for the Red Sox in 2011

I agree, I'm not defending him either, I'm just defending the fact that it had started out as an innocent thread, so I was throwing him a bone for that (for once). But I'm not defending anything he did, and your post YOTN certainly wasn't ridiculous. I'm aware that folks love to discuss trades, future players etc etc. But I'm with you. No matter what I want or think or opine....the FO makes the final decision on everything and that's why they are paid the big bucks. Thanks so much for 2004 and 2007! I don't expect to win every year or even make the play offs.
