Oh, gotchya... EX1=Example1. Sorry, spaced out on that one. I thought "Ex1" was some kind of term used in trade negotiations or somethin'. That's what beer will do to ya. ;)

The Red Sox still have not given up on pulling off a deal for Gonzalez and there remains a chance that they could do a trade without agreeing to an extension, tweets Heyman.

Too bad a lot of posters on this board have already jumped off the nearest bridge.

Ya get back to me when he's 37-38.

Jut like it would have been no big deal to give Papi 2 extra years on his last extension. that would look beautiful right now

If this is how the FO looks at this deal........then forget about AGON coming to Boston.

Some other team will offer him a better, longer deal.

For that matter, forget about just about any premier free agent coming to Boston. Boston has limits.....other teams dont.

Instead of premier free agents we get JD Drew and John Lackey.

I mean tool as in like class clown' date=' goofball that sort of thing.[/quote']

Ok. Calling someone a class clown or a goof ball is much less negative than calling someone a tool, imo.

Hey, Theo DID say it was a bridge year. Just sayin'... :D

If Gonzo goes off with a monster year and we get back to the WS and win it, would you really care if he was a one year rental?

I wouldn't. Winning cures everything.

Of course it would be worth it then, but you can't use that as a reasonable argument against what I'm saying because that's a simple "what if". For example, one can "what if" virtually every possible scenario, but UNLESS you can PROVE that Gonzalez, even in a 1 year rental, would get the Red Sox the World Series, then you can't use that argument against Theo or the FO.

Thank you my point exactly if the Sox aren't going to be willing to lock guys like this up for the long term then we can forget ever getting any high profile free agent like a Gonzalez or a Crawford or anybody for that matter you gotta be willing to do things you don't want to sometimes to get the big players you want. As of right now I have to agree I don't see Gonzalez coming to Boston if they aren't willing to bend on the years or money I don't see why they should be worried about what he's gonna be like when he's 38 they wanna win championships don't they? Well a player of this calibre will be a big piece of the puzzle on a championship team. Sometimes I really don't get the logic the front office uses. My opinion is we aren't going to see AGonz on the Sox simple as that.

True... I was merely throwing out an example of why a 1 year rental wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing, even with the loss of Kelly, Rizzo, and Fuentes. I'm not arguing against Theo at all in this... if it's really over and it came down to money, I guarantee it was ownership and not Theo that decided not to pull the trigger.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

It's funny because these horribly flawed methods of Theo's have made the Red Sox the only team in the majors since 2001 to win multiple championships in that timespan.

Papi weighs 350 pounds and way less in shape than Agon

My thoughts exactly.

I'm sure you meant to say this but this current ownership hasn't signed a player to an 8 year deal. Duquette gave Manny 8 years.

Yes. I meant to say the new ownership and I was too hurried to try to make a search for details on Manny's deal.

Listen, lets not even go down that road, because then it will only turn into the argument about who really put those teams together.

Duquette, Theo.....or the guys who pulled off the trade for Lowell and Beckett.

Lets not go down that road.

They WILL NOT get AGON if they dont pay him and give him 8 years. Simple as that. With little remaining of real worth on the market, they are screwed if they dont complete this trade.

This is happening. Always was (at least from when the deal was done).

Where the hell did you get that avatar and what is the significance?

Its f***ing ridiculous, but I still laugh every time I see that stupid dog and the rainbow colors.

I dont even know why I laugh but I do haha.

The sellout streak is a farce anyway.

LOL!

This is SO true!!!!

There are, by my estimation 2-6 thousand seat that remain empty on many nights. You can't see most of them from watching on TV!

Maybe they were "sold". But to whom ? A re-seller?

No. Prob a season ticket holder who stopped showing up.

Or a season ticket holder who isnt a "fan" of the team. They buy them and sell them using third party ticket brokers to make money.

Thats my guess anyway. The seats were sold.....the owners of the seats just didnt show up.

there all sold , its just that people are having a harder time of selling them 3,4 times the face value , hence the empty seats . once people know its no longer a hot seat they'll stop buying them and the streak will be gone
