Looking for starting pitching does not work with their long term plans. Buchholz is almost health, and Beckett will be back soon, giving them a very strong 1-4.

Fun fact: Between Doubront, Dice-k, and Bowden, not a single one of them has allowed more than 3 earned runs in any of their starts since May in any level of baseball. So yeah, I think this team will be able to survive without another starter.

The Red Sox should go get Farnsworth and Dejesus or preferably Josh Willingham. Willingham would be a perfect fit and is having his best year as a big leaguer. It is pretty obvious Cameron is toast and Gammons hinted he may be shutting it down soon. We get Willingham and Farnsworth and everyone else gets and stays healthy.. we win the World Series rather easily.

:dunno:

Farnsworth sucks. Willingham would be a good pickup, though.

That's just because Dice K can't make it out of the second inning.

I'd actually love to go get Kyle Farnsworth, I'd just never play him. I'd like to have him in the dugout for whenever we play the Yankees or Rays in case of a fight. Kyle Farnsworth may never earn his salary by pitching, but he'd earn it by embarrassing and injuring Yankees and Rays in a fight. And Johnny Gomes isn't on the Rays to protect them.

Please atleast look up stats before you say mindless drivel like that. He's averaged 6 and 1/3 innings over that stretch, and pitched less than 5 innings only once.

Touche. Farnsworth should go into MMA after his career is over

What about Leo Nunez of the Marlins? He's making 2M this season and is arb. eligible next year and due a hefty pay raise. I think he is just the kind of hard late inning thrower this team needs. Here's the link that sparked my intrigue.

Uggh, I hate trying to trade with the Marlins, they never take any salary back and demand too much in prospects.

Don't be too shocked if we just don't do much at the deadline guys, the signs aren't great this year, our prospect depth isn't what it has been and our holes are generally more along the lines of "once we get healthy" than "if we only had a..." Until Nava falls off a cliff we've solved the one big hole we were looking at maybe addressing midseason, and Catcher is an issue that's really going to have to wait until the offseason unless we can wheedle Chris Snyder away from the Diamondbacks. So I just don't see the big team-saving blockbuster ATM. Sorry guys.

Farnsworth has become a pitcher this year..mixing his pitches much better and still has some of the nastiest stuff out there and would not cost much in the way of prospects.. as far as available, cheap middle relievers go, he is about as good as it gets. 36 IP..1.97 ERA and 1.07 WHIP... .220 OBA... ummm, check me if I am wrong geniuses..but that is pretty damn good.. better STATS than every reliever on the Sox not named Bard.

I would like to see a Dejesus and Farnsworth for Cash, Reddick and Bowden happen.

Do you really think that's a possible trade they accept? Reddick has this annoying habit of not being able to hit AAA or higher pitching, Bowden is looking like a back end of the rotation/long reliever candidate, and Cash is a waiver wire journeyman. They can get more for two players that can contribute to a contender.

If that is all it took, I think it would have been done already.
