You do realize that it is the objective of a good lineup to work the count on the other team's ace starter to get him out of the game as early as possible. Do you think they do that because they think the bullpen pitchers are better? It's a pretty fundamental concept.

And if we had a crappy or tired pen then I might be worried...

YEAH! At least a series win for the REDSOX! Yes, Lester and company 1 hit the best team in the MLs. The announcers are still pissed about the 2nd strike from Paps to Upton, HA HA HA GO REDSOX!

Nice work by the pitching. Papelbon has to stop sucking. His WHIP is atrocious.

That snark rings out of tune when Bard was better....again.

Go for the sweep tomorrow! Lackey has looked pretty meh recently' date=' he better bring his A game tomorrow.[/quote']

Right you are.:D

I want to keep them both for as long as possible, so your insult misses the mark... again. Lot's of swings and misses from you lately. Let me check GameDay to see if you are chasing out of the zone.

Lackey is a competitor. I know this guy has a ton of pride.. He will try and go match the zeros the other guys have been putting up. I expect a good effort. It will be tough to beat Garza...but I think we have a good shot.

You know what's a scary thought? After doing great against all these playoff teams, the next 17 of the next 21 games are against the Royals, the Guardians, Baltimore, Oakland and the Diamondbacks.

And we better take the series from all of them.

I think.

Watching Baseball Tonight and they showed Victorino facing a knuckleballer named Dickey from the Mets.

So I guess there is an active knuckleballer in the NL.

R.A. Dickey.

Thought he retired. He's 35

RA Dickey was on the Twins last year and was more known for his previous season on the Mariners.

No, it's right on. The whole genesis of your sarcastic remarks following every minor Bard struggle and Papelbon success is your position that he's not fit to be the next closer. Every inning that Bard pitches better than Papelbon, shines light on the cracks in that theory.

No' date=' it's right on. The whole genesis of your sarcastic remarks following every minor Bard struggle and Papelbon success is your position that he's not fit to be the next closer. Every inning that Bard pitches better than Papelbon, shines light on the cracks in that theory.[/quote']My theory is that I would like to keep Bard and Papelbon as long as possible. I like those two big guns for the 8th and 9th. Paps is my 9th inning guy, but I do really like Bard for the 8th. I like to shorten the games to 7 innings with those guys. I posted this very clearly just recently. No footnotes needed. I'll state it one more time so there is no room for misunderstanding. I don't want the Sox to lose Papelbon. Despite his horrid WHIP, I think he is still going to be an elite closer for 3-4 more years after this year, at a minimum. I want him paired with Bard for this period as I think it would give the Sox a combination that no other team could come close to matching. The snarky remarks are at you and others who are ready to waive goodbye to Paps. Sometimes I make the snarky remarks when Bard has a rare bad game, but they are always aimed at those people who seem eager to let Paps walk. I don't think Bard will be as good a closer as Papelbon, but Papelbon is the best that I have seen in a Red Sox uni in 45 years. Not being as good as Paps is no big knock on Bard, who I think is a dominating reliever in his own right. Try again. Another swing and a miss by you.

The problem with your ******** is the assumption involved. You assume that people who are comfortable with replacing Papelbon actually want to go through the process that it will take for the Sox to let him go. If they are letting him go, that means he continued to get worse, and he needed to be replaced. Nobody who likes the team wants this to happen. Acknowledging it as possible and accepting the on hand replacement does not constitute the eagerness you have fabricated.

So, in the end, we get to put up with your ******** comments, that are really directed at a ******** argument that you've fabricated in order to pat yourself on the back.

No thanks.

I forgot. This is your "if Papelbon continues to get worse, he'll suck" argument. Brilliant! I couldn't agree more. If he sucks I don't want to keep him. I don't agree that your "trend' argument is indicative of a fall from elite status. Why don't you loosen up a little. If you don't like my remarks, put me on ignore. You got all hot and bothered about my banter with Dipre tonight about Beltre, when we were just kidding with each other. You are so intent on finding something to get mad about in my posts that you don't even realize when i am joking around with another poster. You take yourself too seriously, which is why I treat you so dismissively. When you want to discuss baseball with me, I am happy to do so, but when you are intent on constantly playing gotcha, you'll keep ending up on the wrong end of that game.
