I don't. I stopped voting a couple of years ago because it's such a popularity contest (or you play for the right manager) over being a true record of who's having the best year.

Do you still vote?

Do you vote straight Sox?

I vote almost every year. I usually vote for the players who I think are the most deserving, but sometimes I play favorites.

I vote some years. I vote straight Guardians. And if shin soo choooooooo isn't in the All-star game this year I'm gonna be pissed

The best players always get in. Its usually only the borderline ones that are sometimes missed. That being said-- How the hell is Teagarden the #4 catcher in the AL?

I don't think you have to worry about that. He's an awesome player, and there's no one else on the Guardians threatening to make the all star team. He should be there by default.

I don't vote.

I am voting Kevin Youkilis at first, Pedroia at second and short, Beltre at third, left, center, right, and catcher, and Jon Lester at pitcher.

Seriously though, I don't vote until the last hour possible.

I don't vote and I don't watch. It's gotten so far away from what it was supposed to be. Now it's a cast of thousands with every team having to have at least one player, regardless of merit. Which Pittsburgh Pirate sucks the least this year? Probably McCutchen.

Yup! You hit the nail on the head.

I don't vote because I don't like popularity contests, and that's what this is.

This year's greatest example: Mark Teixeira leading the AL in votes for 1B.

Numbahs
Player|BA|OBP|SLG|OPS

Teixeira|.209|.327|.378|.705

Morneau|.383|.497|.701|1.199

Youk|.321|.457|.622|1.079
Booooooooo. Boo.

Thanks ORS, I haven't kept up with the voting but that's case positive that the All Star Game has turned into a joke.

Vote for Justin Morneau Joe Mauer Dustin Pedroia and then everyone else based on performance, well no I actually tend to vote Sox outside of Mauer/Morneau.

But hey, when was the last time there was a better catcher on the list than Mauer? Its a bad sign when the #4 catcher is Teagarden

How about Shortstop?

Shortstop

RANK PLAYER NAME TOTAL VOTES

1. Derek Jeter 639,227

2. Elvis Andrus 239,091

3. Jason Bartlett 154,014

4. J.J. Hardy 134,840

5. Alex Gonzalez 109,793

Both Andrua and Gonzales are having much better seasons than Jeter.

Mmhmm. Mauer is easily the best catcher in baseball, so he's the easiest choice, and I always have a hard time choosing between Youk and Morneau, two of my favorite players in the league.

Placido Polanco, who is 11th in OPS for regular 3B in the NL, leads the balloting at said position by a large margin.

Jimmy Rollins, who has been injured and has a grand total of 52 plate appearances, leads the way in the SS position.

In the OF, neither Alfonso Soriano's 1.027 OPS, nor Jason Heyward's .989 OPS are deserving of a spot, yet Shane Victorino's .783 OPS does deserve a spot, since, you know, he has a pretty awesome nickname. Werth has been a monster, and is completely deserving though.

Not surprised about Heyward. Rookies (or guys having a breakout season) hardly ever make the All-Star Game.

I'm surprised he's not top-five given all the hype surrounding the guy in the off-season, spring training, and even early in the season. My guess is that if he plays in either New York team, Boston or Los Angeles, he would have garnered much larger consideration with those numbers.
