But in the meantime' date=' it probably screwed the Sox out of a ballgame, and you're complaining because they lost.[/quote']So, I have an additional reason to complain.

Whine about the umps. Call for them to take lessons from Yankee pilots or something of the sort.

 Maybe these bad umps train those Yankee pilots. I should post that in the Uplifting Thread.

The comments from the players were pretty funny.

"So did Ortiz see a replay of the third strike?

"I don’t have to. Thank God I wasn’t hitting righthanded because that would have hit me in the ribs," he said."

-Extra Bases

"We'll leave the final word to Dustin Pedroia:

"[The umpires] must have had a flight. I'm actually going to check on that," he said. "If they had a flight, we’re going to make sure it was delayed. Because I can do that. I have that kind of pull."

I am glad that I missed this game. If there are articles on the umpiring with plot graphs, it was borderline scandalous (maybe even scandalous). It would have aggravated me more than my job did today.

There's no way we could prove if an umpire had anything riding on the game or not, and I'm not suggesting that Scott threw this game. But it's very out of character for him to have a wide strike zone. He's consistently had a very tight strike zone for the last 5 or so years. And giving pitchers an extra 5 inches off the plate was heavily beneficial towards the Blue Jays considering the Red Sox are a team that works the count, Drew and Ortiz have been our hottest hitters of late and we were facing a pitcher that's pitched well against us in the past. And with Wakefield pitching, there's no way he can consistently put his pitches 5 inches off the strike zone.
