.266, 10 HR OB% .338

Most importantly, his OB% this month is over .400 (.408). Looks like hes taking many more pitches that he was waiving at previously. The K numbers are still a little high, but as the walk numbers go up, and pitchers start realizing he is showing signs of is previous self....those will most likely go down (although they dont matter if hes mashing).

If Papi has a big year, he'll want a 4 year contract for $50 mil. He won't get it in Boston, but that's what his agent will ask for.

Ortiz will be going year to year from now on. If anyone offers him multiple years he should jump on it. Just look at Vlad's deal for comparison's.

Hey' date=' is Papi for real--or what? I gotta replace Morales on my team--Papi comes cheap right now.[/quote']

I would think so. As i said in game chat, it really is looking like last year he was fighting back after the wrist injury and this year was just a typical (albeit worse than normal) slow start.

Ortiz isnt coming back to Boston unless he takes a massive pay cut and signs for only one yr.

Also, he's very, very hot right now. My guess is that he settles into the mid .800s in terms of OPS, maybe high .800s which is much better than I thought he would hit. My guess is that the sox will make an "offer" hoping it gets surpassed so they can reap his probable Type B or potential Type A status without having to sign him through a decline. Papi looks great right now. But he is getting up there in age, has been dealing with injuries, is overweight and has had sustained runs of suck over the past 3 seasons. If he puts it all together this yr, the sox might be able to reap the benefits in the draft without needing to keep him around for his true decline

Remember when you said this:

Papi was embarassed. I think he's not long for this team.

Papi is the hottest hitter in Baseball right now. So he sits on the bench in a loss last night so Lowell can get a few at bats? Go figure. Tito plays Papi early when he couldn't hit a lick, while Lowell sat. Now he sits red hot Papi just to placate Lowell? It's just a reminder about how Tito places the feelings of his players above winning at times. Treats 'em like a bunch of prima donnas. Hey, maybe he's right. Got to keep all those millionaires happy.

Here's a suggestion, Tito. Have Lowell coach 3B. That Bogar guy you have out there is incompetent, and costing the Red Sox games.

It is just unacceptable that this guy continues to blow games for us. Dale Sveum was a horror show too, but the team managed to overcome most of his bonehead calls. Every time this guy makes a bonehead call it seems to cost the team a victory. You can't spend $160 million on a payroll and have an organization that is working so hard to win to let an idiot throw away the season by continuing to send slow runners to their death at home with no one out or one out in the inning. It's enough already. I hope that was not too negative being that the team is playing winning ball and all that.

Yes I do. I was wrong about Papi. I thought he was finished' date=' as did a lot of people here[/quote']Not me, and oddly, I am viewed as being negative.

I put Papi on my fantasy team. He goes 0 for 24. But he's come back again, and maybe has regained the confidence to sustain his resurgence. The Red Sox are doing remarkably well considering 2/3 of their starting OF and Beckett have been out for some time. Credit their replacements--including Buchholz. And the hitting. Papi, Youks, VMart, Beltre. They are right back in the hunt.
