That was a pretty weak effort Gom. Not your best.

Man, did Manny and Ortiz cover a lot of sins.

It's still early. I'm not in mid-season form yet.

and Theo was praying for the day that Manny would go. Having 2 franchise players in the 3-4 spots makes your team look really fricking good, even if they arent.

And I hate to continue to beat the dead horse, but this is exactly why landing Teixeira was so vital and critical, and why it is a huge failure on this FO that they did not get him.

And as I type, another shitshow at Fenway today. Is this team 10 games out by Memorial Day? Will people go watch a team with a 150 million dollar payroll flounder below .500?

Go ask the Mets how that's working.

Hence why I think Buchholz ends up in SD. My bet is that AdGon is in Boston prior to the start of the 2011 season. They will feel the pain of lacking a true middle of the order power hitter

If our offense continues like this' date=' we just might have to give in to San Diego's demands and trade them a ransom for Adrian Gonzalez.[/quote']

I've been against moving Buch all along. However, now things seem different. I'm not so sure that the Sox can actually offer what is needed by S.D.. Who do the Sox have that would fill their needs?

Buch

Reddick

Kallish

Rizzo

Lin

Dubront

Bowden?

Expo?

What does San Diego really need?

Jack Cust. ;)

My point is that if AdGon proves too costly and Ortiz is still sucking, then they need to cut his ass and get Dunn.

Cust is the cheaper version of Dunn. It's like going to Mexico for something.

Not even close IMO.

Cust walks' date=' strikes out, hits HR's, and can't field. Sounds like Dunn to me.[/quote']

Not nearly as much, a lot more, not 41 per 162 games played, even less. Sounds like a very cheap imitation to me.

Isn't that what I've been saying the entire f***** time? That Cust is a cheaper version of Adam Dunn. Must be lost in translation. I know that English is your second language, but damn. ;)

If this team is 8+ out by the break, then I hope like hell Theo DOESN'T go after Gonzalez.

Deep down I think he knew this season was going to be a struggle, and I give him credit for putting together a staff that should be able to keep them competitive in a lot of games. The bullpen is still a major question mark and unfortunately the offense isn't good enough to hang with the Rays or Yanks.

Any other division, I think the Sox probably win it. Now I am having a hard time seeing this team playing postseason baseball.

You should keep beating this dead horse. If theres something that characterizes the biggest failure of this FO, was their non-acquisition of Teixeira. It handed the Yanks the 2009 Championship in a platter and is going to prove costly in terms of prospects to acquire a bat if Ortiz is truly done this season, prolonging the impact of the failure.

Nah, the 20 year all-star hit his second HR in his bounce back year. He'll be alright in a pinch. Although, he'll have to play until he's like 45 to make 20 AS Teams.

Well played sir.

Cust is a cheaper version of Dunn because he is an inferior version of Dunn. And his numbers have gone down the last 3 seasons. That's not a good trend. Dunn is Mr. Consistent.

Couldnt have said it better myself.

There's a lot more wrong with this club than just Papi. Sure, sticking him in the 5-hole and having him leave a ton of MOB may not be great for team morale (anybody think of that angle?), but the pitching has sucked. Beckett and Lester deja vu like last year. Beckett has had one good start. Lester had a strong ST, but then fell apart as soon as the season started.Middle relief not good. Another morale builder is all those stolen bases. I wouldn't want to be an infielder watching other clubs taking free bases in historical proportions.

All this spells trouble for Francona and company. Tito is outwardly a very easy going, optimistic type of guy. But the FO has gone to some length pre-season to improve the club, and so far it isn't showing. The guys on the field look like they weren't prepared to come out of the box properly, and sooner or later someone will have to pay.

Reddick, Kalish, Kelly, Lin, etc.

Ortiz, Lowell, etc. off the payroll.

Those are the stars of tomorrow? Lin? Kelly is the best talent of the whole group, but with Beckett, Lester, Lackey and Buccholz the future of the rotation seems secure. Who is going to replace Ortiz, Manny/Bay, and Lowell as offensive forces?

Me too but I agree 100% with the Tex incident

and if this team is out by 10 games and below 500 by memorial day than ill be able to get great tickets for a low price
