Another bad call. Between the bad call at third, the bad strike three call, the bad decision by Napoli, and the hard hit ball right at Cano, I'd say that's about as lucky an inning as a pitcher can have.

Absolutely hate the bunt there.

EDIT: It's an absolutely awful play there. Pineiro has given up six hits in three plus innings, and Swisher has a double today, after swinging the bat well last night. Hate that play.

It's OK. Wood let him off the hook by letting the playable grounder go under his glove.

Agreed, but it still doesn't make the decision a good one.

Anyway, always nice to only make the pitcher earn one out during an inning.

It wasn't over the plate. Wilson is still in the LH batter's box and Teixeira is over the plate when they meet. Read that again' date=' Teixeira is over the plate, meaning he ran beyond the point he needed to start his slide. He opted for collision when it was unnecessary.[/quote']

Where is Wilson - LH batter's box

Where is Teix - butt over the plate

Where is the collision - on the 1B side of the plate

From your picture.

So, the collision happened over the plate, but Wilson wasn't over the plate. Forget about baseball. What you are saying violates the fundamentals of physics. What unbelievable ******** will come out of your mouth next?

Go back to sleep.

Haha, that's the best you've got? A stupid semantical point that falls on its face. "On the 1B side of the plate" could mean the black, or it could mean the area on the 1B side of the plate, which goes all the way back to the dugout.

What incredible weaksauce, Gom. You're flailing in the water, grasping at straws. Quit while you can.

Andy Pettitte found the f***ing fountain of youth. He's throwing every pitch for strikes, has his old curveball back and is throwing over 90mph. I wonder if ARod and Andy are sharing their "protein shakes". Seriously, this guy looks like a f***ing ace out there

Maybe he can pull of a Moose '08.

That'd be great, but, while it's obvious, it's also worth reiterating that this is only four games. Last year, even though he wasn't as good, he started out well.

With the improved OF defense. A sub-4 ERA wouldn't surprise me.

Joe Retardi is pushing all the starters over 100 pitches like it's nothing.

I don't have an issue with it today. Pettitte was throwing the ball just as well in the eighth inning as he was in the first inning. He doesn't have a ton of faith in his pen right now, and Andy was showing no signs of fatigue. I'm not someone that doesn't believe in pitch count at all, but I think it's best used in conjunction with how the pitcher looks out on the mound.

Yeah, but he looked pretty much the same 07-09. He looks completely revamped this season. I dont know what Eiland did, but Pettitte seems to be getting a lot more depth out of his curveball and that seems to be fooling a lot of hitters. Plus, his velocity seems to be up.

I'm so impressed with his curveball. He seems to be pinpoint control with it, and I think it's been the difference. Additionally, it's an even more impressive start when you consider the teams he has faced.

The control is sweet' date=' but I really think he is getting more depth out of it. He has always gotten a lot of horizontal movement, but the depth is impressive[/quote']

Yeah I agree with this. Everything about it seems better.

Yeah, but it's a 7-1 game. It's April, he's 37 and he's not CC. I just think it was a perfect time to see what Logan can do.

I wouldn't have had an issue with this either. My only point is that, in my opinion, Andy reaching 114 pitches isn't a concern.
