He could keep this up the rest of the season if he's going to keep drawing atrocious teams like Houston and Arizona to pitch against.

He's amazing, he's got ridiculous "stuff" and can throw anything exactly where he wants it. Sure, he wouldn't be quite as successful in the AL, but he'd still dominate. He is the best pitcher the majors right now by a REALLY long shot.

Roy Halladay, his perfect game and sub 1 ERA beg to differ.

Halladay has a 1.99 ERA right now, but I get your point. I personally wouldn't say Jiminez is the best pitcher in baseball now either. He would need to demonstrate his ability for longer then 1/3 of a season before being declared the "best pitcher in the majors by a long shot." And in case you're willing to simply look at the most recent results for declaring who's the best pitcher...Roy Halladay and his perfect game are much better then Jiminez and his CGSO today against an offensively challenged Giants team.

Jimenez also pitched a no hitter this year. So you're arguing what's more impressive, a 0.78 ERA, which I'd wager no pitcher has ever matched or bettered through 11 games, with a no hitter or a 1.99 ERA and a perfect game. Is that really even a question?

I mean, Jimenez's only loss, and worst outting, he gave up 2 runs in eight innings.

What I'm arguing is this absolute assertion that Jiminez is the best pitcher in the majors and it isn't even close. That statement was based off of what, 1/3 of a season? That's much too short a time frame so if you're going to go off of ridiculously short periods of time why not just go with the last start each pitcher made?

I can't see Jiminez being declared the best pitcher when he pitches in the JV league. If he continues this trend (relatively speaking, doesn't have to be a sub 1.00 or even 2.00 ERA) for more then a single season, then people can start declaring him the best pitcher in MLB.

Quote him context before debating the subject.

I wonder how long he can keep this up. He threw about 130 pitches today.

The point is the "long shot argument" it's being quoted in context. Jimenez is the best, but not by a long shot. He is the best right now, but i don't think Halladay is that far behind.

Phillies are being shutout through 5 innings again tonight. Their offense sucks and they are killing my fantasy teams.

I have 5 of them between my 2 teams. They have been strangling my team over the past week plus. Also, it doesn't help that my opponents teams have been doing well out of nowhere.

Exactly, I've even started SP's against the Phillies offense and it worked. I'm afraid that on the day that one of my starters faces the Phillies is when they ignite for 15-20 runs. I think what the Phillies offense will do to pitchers when they get their groove back should be banned in 48 states.

Howard hit a 2 run shot for Philly' date=' maybe it's a sign of something.[/quote']They lost 2-1 to Atlanta today. D. Lowe shut them down today.

Continuing with the theme of bad umpiring, there was a call at 2nd in the Mariners/Twins game tonight that cost Minnesota the game. 1st/2nd with 2 outs, an Ichiro grounder up the middle is fielded and flipped to 2nd for the out, only the runner was called safe and the guy from 2nd came around and scored the winning run in the bottom of the 10th.
