Hmm' date=' maybe starting Jaime Garcia against them tomorrow isn't such a good idea after all...[/quote']

Carlos Ruiz just hit a Walk-Off HR against the Cards in Extra innings after hitting a moonshot that landed in Foul ground.

I cant believe Barry Zito and Alfonso Soriano are carrying my fantasy team to an undefeated record thus far. Soriano was a 17th round pick while Zito was a waiver wire pickup. Fantasy sports are all luck.

Undefeated? Does that mean you've won your weekly matchups or that you swept them? I can see winning each matchup weekly, but I doubt that a team is truly undefeated. That would mean being 40-0 or 80-0 or something, depending on if your league does 10 categories per week or 20.

I play in a league where whoever wins the most match ups gets the win. For example, if I went 8-5 during a week against my opponent, Id finish the week with one win. For example, if it was week 1 Id be 1-0 after week ended.

So far i'm 4-0 and up early this week.

Ok, I got it. My apologies, I was not aware that fantasy baseball could be scored in that manner, as it is more typical of fantasy football. Congrats on being undefeated dude. This is my first season playing and it's harder than I anticipated.

Its all good, no worries.

Yeah, its more often used in fantasy football, but my friend who is running the league wanted it that way so I just decided why not.

This is my 2nd year playing and I'm doing a hell of a lot better then last year, last year I finished 2nd to last because I basically just drafted players I liked and avoided all Yankees players, haha.

Its definitely harder then I thought and definitely involves a lot of luck. Perfect example, last night I had two guys go on the DL so I decided what the hell, I picked up Randy Winn right before lineups locked and placed in my lineup and he ended up hitting 3 run homer.

When Ian Kinsler started the season on the DL, i went through a couple of 2B before settling on Kelly Johnsonn. Go figure.

Sell high on Soriano while you can. He won't be carrying your team for long.

I've tried, no one in this league seems to be interested in trading except for this one guy who offers Ty Wigginton for every player possible, yesterday he offered me Ty Wigginton for Youk and Adam Jones.

Sometimes injuries can be a blessing in disguise, its pretty crazy how things work out in fantasy sports.

Anyway, Barry Zito improved to 5-0 tonight and has a very impressive 1.49 ERA.

Never been there. It seems very wide open. There's a pretty good chance you'll see some HRs.

Had a fantastic time. It's a really nice park and we saw an unbelievable game - Skip Schumaker got thrown out at the plate to end the game. Doesn't get much better than that. I was actually videoing the last couple outs and got the whole thing on my camera. It was also the Civil Rights game and getting to see a bunch of hall of fame players (Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Frank Robinson, etc) was really cool. Did I mention my ticket was $5 and I sat about 15-20 rows up from the Cardinals dugout? Good times. I love road trips.

You look at the league stats: Red Sox 4th in hitting, 3rd from last in pitching. TB/NY 1-2 in pitching.

That tells the whole story of the season so far. The hitting is fine, the pitching sucks. I'm beginning to believe that Harrell is the most overrated pitching coach in Baseball. And handling pitching, unfortunately, is not a Tito strength--back to the days in Philly.

Was at the Cubs game. First walk-off HR I've ever seen - and it was in extra innings. Very exciting.

Hanley Ramirez told reporters Tuesday morning that he "lost some respect" for manager Fredi Gonzalez after Monday's benching.

Ramirez was lifted from Monday's 3-2 loss to the Mets after booting a bloop hit into the left field corner and jogging after it with little effort. He probably should have apologized Tuesday rather than complicate matters further, because what could have been a minor issue has now taken on a life of its own. Now Gonzalez may be forced to bench Ramirez further.

Nationals top prospect Stephen Strasburg is in line to make his major league debut on June 4 against the Reds.

The Nationals haven't made anything official, so this is essentially a guessing game, but it's well known that the club would prefer to have Strasburg make his first two or three starts at Nationals Park. And kicking off his career on June 4 would allow just that. The talented 21-year-old has thrown 12 scoreless innings at the Triple-A level and has allowed only one hit in that span.

And I lost some respect for Hanley. One of the best players in the game, but what he did was inexcusable.

Hanley defends self, takes aim at skipper

Ramirez says he lost some respect for Gonzalez for benching

MIAMI -- Hanley Ramirez, upset over being benched during Monday night's game, vented his frustrations prior to Tuesday's game against the D-backs -- a game for which he was not in the lineup.

Speaking to a gathering of reporters, the two-time All-Star shortstop said he was made an example of, and that he lost a measure of respect for manager Fredi Gonzalez.

In the first inning on Monday night, Ramirez fouled a ball hard off his lower left leg, on the shin just above his ankle. He remained in the game, but was clearly slowed. On Tuesday morning, he was sporting a bandage on his bruise.

The issue of Ramirez's effort level arose in the second inning in Florida's 5-1 loss to Arizona.

Tony Abreu lofted a bloop hit into short left field. Already hobbled, Ramirez accidentally booted the ball into the left-field corner. Two runners scored as Ramirez trotted after the ball. Abreu ended up on third, and an error was charged on the Florida shortstop.

"I wasn't trying to give up," Ramirez said. "That was the hardest I could go after the ball."

Asked if he was at full speed on the play, Ramirez said on Tuesday: "I don't know. It looked like it. That's the example [Gonzalez] set with me. If you don't hustle, hopefully, he does it with everybody.

"It's OK. He doesn't understand that. He never played in the big leagues. That's fine," Ramirez said. "That's the example that he set. It started with me. Let's see how far it goes."

Ramirez added that he wasn't mentally or physically ready to play on Tuesday afternoon. Brian Barden was in the lineup at shortstop.

"I think he needs to talk to his teammates a little bit," Gonzalez said. "Whatever feelings he has with me or doesn't have with me, it's fine and dandy. We don't have to get along, but I think he has to get along with the other 24 guys on this team. When that happens, we'll run him back in there. When he sets his ego aside, this could be good."

Gonzalez disciplined Ramirez by sending him to the clubhouse after the second inning. He said on Tuesday that Ramirez was not suspended.

The manager said he didn't know when Ramirez would return to the lineup.

"I think he needs to take care of the situation," Gonzalez said. "When he handles that, the right way, we'll be fine."

During pregame warmups, Ramirez was on the field, and for a while he was shagging balls in the outfield. He spent a few minutes in right field talking with his good friend, closer Leo Nunez.

"We expect an effort from 25 guys on this team. When that doesn't happen, we've got to do something," Gonzalez said on Monday night. Ramirez was asked if he lost respect for his manager.

"A little bit. That's fine," the 26-year-old shortstop said. "We've got 24 more guys. Hopefully they can do the same thing I do. They wear the Marlins uniform."

Ramirez said he was in a lot of pain after the foul ball, but he tried to keep playing.

"I was trying to stay in the game. I don't want to get out of the game," said Ramirez, who is batting .293 with seven homers and 20 RBIs. "I just said I was going to go home. I just wanted to go home. It's brutal. It's fine. It's OK."

Ramirez didn't leave immediately on Monday. He received treatment on his leg but left without speaking to reporters.

"It's his team. He can do what he [expletive] wants," Ramirez said of Gonzalez.

Ramirez told reporters he wasn't planning on apologizing to his teammates or his manager. Whether that changes over the next day or two remains to be seen.

"For what?" Ramirez said. "We've got a lot of people jogging it, after ground balls. They don't pull guys."

The Marlins open a two-game series with the Cardinals in St. Louis on Wednesday. If the shortstop addresses the team, he then could be in the lineup.

"I think he needs to talk to his teammates," Gonzalez said. "If this is handled the right way, I think it can be good. If it's not, then I think it can be a distraction. It could grow into some ugly stuff. But let's wait and see what happens. Let's not make a mountain out of a molehill just yet."

Before Ramirez arrived on Tuesday morning, veteran Wes Helms said the All-Star shortstop is looked upon as a leader.

"A lot of guys, coaches, staff have told Hanley. With his talent, he definitely needs to be the leader of this team," Helms said. "Mentally. Vocally. Everything. For me, to be a leader of the team, you have to lead by example. If you just lead vocally, and don't back it, I'm not saying you have to hit .300, it's the way you handle yourself. That's the way a true leader is. He definitely has the play to be a leader. But you want him to lead by example. It's what you're looking for."

Ramirez said that he respects everybody.

"I don't know if I get the same respect back," he said.

This is what Hanley had to say for himself.

I seriously doubt that was the hardest he could go after the ball. Color me skeptical. Playing requires skill. Effort only requires effort.

What Hanley did is not a surprise at all to me. One of my best friends has a cousin on the Marlins 40 man roster, and he's been telling me for a good two years now that none of the Marlins like Hanley and that he's a total douche bag. This just solidifies it.

Cincinnati just blew a 9-3 lead in the 9th @ Atlanta. Brooks Conrad hit a walk off grand slam for the Braves.

Dammit. The Reds have given me a small ray of hope that there is at least one team in the NL Central worth a damn that might stay within 10 games of the Cardinals by seasons end. The NL Central in general is closer to AAAA ball than anything else you'll see in MLB.
