Wait, what?

This is the same Adrian Gonzales they've been attempting to trade for since before the start of the "bridge year" and everyone was certain they were going to sign one of the type-A FA outfielders, and a couple of relievers, so you weren't breaking new ground with the idea, but the OF they wanted (and who signed a ridiculously stupid deal) was Werth, opening up the door to a Crawford signing, specially since he was open to taking comparable money to Werth. I still don't like the contract, and with good reason. You were ridiculed because you ignored the facts about the way the players fir with the team because you "liked" Crawford better. That's not how you run a baseball team.

You're taking information everybody knew and trying to spin it as a "groundbreaking" discovery by yourself. That is completely and utterly ridiculous.

I like Crawford better than Werth because he is more talented and he is just entering his prime. He has a lethal offensive weapon (world class speed) that few players have. He will be a tremendous table setter for the big boppers behind him. We've got plenty of guys to knock him in. Crawford fit this team better than Werth for many reasons. The only advantage Werth had was that he is right handed.

What makes you think Theo wanted Werth over Crawford? He channels me not you. What do you mean that the signing of Werth opened the door to sign Crawford? After the Werth move is when posted all your insults directed at me. You told me that it was a pipe dream. Crawford didn't fall in our lap. Theo outbid the Angels by about $25 million. I guess Theo and the FO obviously had a hard on for the guy.

Haha' date=' and one doesn't have to go back at all to find an instance of me being wrong, because I'm never wrong at all. ;)[/quote']You are infallible when it comes to baseball. You suck with Soccer (futball) and Rugby.;)

Back to 2005? And the Sox were better off re-signing Bay, Papelbon would bounce back because "WHIP doesn't matter, Beltre was a banjo hitter, and Papelbon is still better than Bard.

Also, quantify "talent" for me. "Talent" is in the numbers, and besides speed and 1.5 years, Werth is better at everything than Crawford. If he doesn't sign that stupid contract with the Nationals, he's preparing for ST with the Sox right now. Please.

Okay Alpha Dog. You do know that I wanted Matt Holliday more than anyone last year.

As for Beltre, the banjo hitter remark was a reactionary game thread remark when the team was going bad. I was one of the few posters that like his acquisition, and before the season started I posted that you might be underestimating his power output with your projections.

"Banjo Hitter" was also the perfect trolling remark for you. You still can't get it out of your head. And you say that you troll me. You can't get me out of your head. Meet the bigger badder older Alpha Dog. Ruff Ruff. Follow my lead and you will be the Alpha Dog some day.

You can proudly use that as a sig, because a .697 OPS vs lefties for 20 million per is a shiny new toy being overpaid for.

Maybe i'll put your idea to trade Jon f***ing Lester and Dusting Pedroia for Dontrelle "Holy s*** i can't throw strikes" Willis for a sig. As a matter of fact, i will.

Dontrelle Willis was pretty nice with the Marlins. I also think he wanted Miguel Cabrera as well. If it was only Willis for Pedroia and Lester then no f*** that.

Willis for Pedroia and Lester. The always-right master of Zen who communicates telepathically with Theo wanted to trade our staff ace and one of the top 2nd basemen in the business for the all-time great Dontrelle Willis.

And don't get me started on re-signing Jason Bay....

Go ahead. Use a very timely 2005 post in your signature if you can find it. I don't think I ever made that suggestion. I did want to get Miggy Cabrera and I would have been willing to sacrifice two prospects for him. A lot has happened since then. Dontrelle has developed a fear of the pitching mound. Lester got cancer and recovered. Like I said, go to town with a 2005 post if you can find one. The hours you will spend looking for one will have this Alpha Dog giggling like crazy. Ruff Ruff.

As for my sig, I'll stay with the very current quote from you, or maybe I'll use this current quote for my signature instead

Yet it's still better than giving Crawford 120 million + because he can run, even though he can't hit lefties.

Oh, and while factoring in his OPS while adding SB to it, you have to substract the CS, and find out how many of those SB came against lefty pitching, and i'm willing to bet not many because he can't hit lefties at all.

or this...

I've said it before, and i'll say it again: It's not about how visible your boner is for the player, but how he fits short and long term into the organization.

It's like you're a nine-year-old kicking and screaming for a video game console that's really really expensive but is almost outdated, and your parents warned you about it. It's still good, but once they stop making games for it, you'll start bitching and moaning for a newer one.

Theo must really be an idiot to sign Crawford after you laid out the case against signing him so clearly and logically.

Everyone gets stuff wrong. I don't see the point in dwelling on anything.
I fully admit that I do make some mistakes in a 5 year period. I have publicly acknowledged that Pedroia was much better than I had hoped he would be. I was hoping for a Mark Loretta type (as were the scouts), but he far surpassed that. No one, except a liar, would have predicted ROY and MVP in his first few years.

Ok ok, i'll stop. But when you proclaim that you're always right when you're usually wrong makes you liable to getting called out .

You know, like the whole "Beltre's a banjo hitter" which suddenly became just a way to troll me. Or re-sign Jason Bay. Or numerous other occasions.

Now for once, because the Nationals gave Werth quite possibly the dumbest contract outside of Barry Zito-land and the Sox signed Crawford as a backup plan, he's suddenly the man who Theo goes to for advice.

I'm just sayin'.

You know who's always right? No one.

Great, now you've got him referring to himself as the Alpha Dog. Just when I thought he couldn't get anymore annoying.

Your arguments would be much more effective trolling posts if they were at all accurate. I predicted better stats for Beltre going into 2010 than you did, so take that. And talk about delusional, now you have yourself convinced that Crawford was a backup plan.

Finally, I never claimed that Theo goes to me for advice, although I suspect he lurks here. It is my claim that "Theo Channels Me."

The part that has me irked is that a700 and I have had nearly contradictory views on what this team should do for a number of years. When all of the moves went down I felt complete vindication about my view. Somehow he did too. Hes suddenly channeling Theo even while having accused me of carrying water for the FO for years. In the past I have defended their moves because I strongly believed that the day would come when they would reallocate that money for huge purchases. I didn't complain about how they sPent my money, or accuse them of not striving to put a first class team out there. It seems awfully convenient that suddenly they make some big moves and the entire backstory and planning that made it possible is swept under the rug. Am I missing something?

I did enjoy the contortions that you went through to explain how Crawford fit right into the value plan that you thought Theo had all along. It was very funny. You need to lighten up. :D No reason to be irked. Sometimes you are right, but in this case i was way out on a limb by myself and I was right. Just about everyone else was wrong. Most of you don't even dare to go out on a limb. I am always crawling out on some limb, and as a result, about every five years or so the limb comes crashing down, but at least I put myself out there. You should be gracious enough to say "way to go" in this case instead of trying to give yourself some sort of lifetime achievement award.

Fightin' words. *Grabs popcorn*
Not looking to fight, not with you or E1. I realize what an ego blow it was for several posters on this forum when the FO made the big move that I had been touting (all by myself) and for which I was taking all sorts of abuse from every corner. The HotStove thread the night we signed him was really a bit stunned, except for me. I was turning cartwheels in the thread, but everyone else was trying to come to grips with it instead of just being happy that my Theo got us the prize offensive player of the 2010-11 FA class. Only BSN07 gave me props that night. He offered to change his custom user name to something of my choice--a very sportsmanlike gesture. I wasn't looking for kudos, because I have always been secure in my own opinion of myself-- to the point of annoyance. However, for those of you who hurled the insults to somehow try to re-write the outcome, well that is very petty, but extremely funny nonetheless.

That's where you're wrong. You think you were the only person in the universe advocating for the Crawford signing, when several other posters where doing the same thing, and trying to defend their position with stats and solid arguments, not "buzz" or "star power". And they're not acting like they're the pipeline for Theo's ideas.

Get over yourself.

Incorrect. Wanting it to happen is not the same as saying it will happen. The only thing I remember you saying about it happening is that it was more likely to happen than signing Manny, which nobody really disagreed with. You never "predicted" this signing.

Still being petty. I did use stats to back up my argument. BTW, I did subtract out caught stealings in my adjustment to OPS. Petty, Petty, petty. Tsk, tsk and tsk, and with regard to Crawford, you were very very wrong. Ruff ruff ruff from the Alpha Dog. I'm wagging my tail. I like this game. Let's play some more.
