Do any other organizations have that many picks? Looking through the east, and low payroll teams like sdg, tamp, pit, was, etc, the most I found was 5. Philly only has one-- Cliff and Roy must have really hurt their system.

I disagree with Kelly being above Westmoreland and I'm entertained that Chapman is on the list, though I don't disagree with it.

There are actually more players on this list that Cashman has recently traded (Vizcaino, Jose Tabata and Austin Jackson) than there are Yankees prospects.

Kelly is better than Westmoreland. Kelly has the stuff to make the jump next season, IMO. Westmoreland has a lot of tools, but it looks like he doesn't even shave. He has a lot of growing to do.

Dustin Ackley top 10 this season? meh...

Kelley is ahead of Westmoreland only because of West's durability concerns IMO. If not for that, I think they are even, again this is just personal opinion.

I think it's more of the fact that Westmoreland hasn't played above short season A ball yet. A good campaign in A/A+ will definitely put him in the top 20 probably by mid-season.

You guys are all drinking the kool-aid that the FO is selling you. Just because they are on this list doesn't mean these players will do anything at the MLB level, there are no guarantees. They should trade them for an established, more expensive star before we realize that the emperor has no clothes. Or something like that...

channeling Jacko?

Kinda surprised not to see him in here muddying the waters somehow.

Christian Friedrich is a name you should remember. Tampa Bay will have a filthy staff for many years to come. Garza, Shields, Price, Davis, Hellickson, Niemann. That's a lot of young talent.

Considering the crop that has come out of the system lately, I think I'll enjoy the FO's kool-aid. Mhmm, strawberry.

Yes, because we all know the secret to being a successful MLB team is to trade young, cost controlled players that could turn out to be the next Lester, Youkilis, Pedroia, Papelbon or Ellsbury for more expensive players.

I'd go by this list instead of KLaw. KLaw is a joke. Frankie Piliere is an actual scout who has been scouting for the past 3 seasons.

Took you long enough. You would think when typing the same thing over and over it would come out faster.

I'll take a guy's perspective who was more recently an active scout, ie last season, over a guy who has been out of the business for awhile and is generally recognized as a joke in his field. Plus, Piliere was a scout for the Rangers, meaning he actively scouted guys on both of our teams for potential deals.

I was surprised that they had shipped off Drabek to Toronto. Even with Halladay, I thought he was 100% untouchable

I agree with you that Keith Law's perspective on prospects isn't very reliable.

But how viable is a 'scout' from mlbblogs? Unless he has seen every single player on his list play to the toon of at least 25 AB's and 21 IP or something along those lines how eligible are his feelings/rankings?

If he was a good scout, why would he be working for mlbblogs? I'll bet that thought never even crossed Jacko's mind :D

So what if he was a scout more recent. Obviously he's not very good at his job. If he was he be a scouting director somewhere, not working at mlb fing blogs. But of course Jacko will give him all the credibility in the world if he throws in a few more Yankee names.

These 8 prospects in the top 100 will not all become full time major league players for the Red Sox. I'd set the over/under at 3, and it will take 3-5 years before that happens. It's just a list of prospects, and it is a subjective one at that. Just my opinion.

Plumpa and Imperial on their typical rampages. Not surprising. That being said, I am intrigued by how BA is going to handle this. BA released their yankee top 30 not too long ago and Banuelos was 5th on that list. Also, how Austin Romine isnt on a top 100 list is downright ridiculous. He was only the player of the yr in the FSL and was younger than almost everyone to boot. I have a feeling BA will have an equal amount of sox and yankee prospects as I believe both systems are pretty comparable at this time
Posted

Comparable probably, but I haven't heard a single source saying that the Yankees system was better than the Sox. In fact, I don't think the NYY farm system has been better than Boston's in many years.

And I'm loving the fact that Jacko would categorise Imperial and Plumpa in their own mannerisms considering that Jacko is the most predictable and possibly the most biased person on the board. And that's including the likes of GOM.
