Well that's all i can get from your baseless arguments and personal attacks.

Don't worry, you'll grow up someday.

It is getting hard to wade through the sea of personal attacks to get the actual points anymore.

Hey i've abstained from personal attacks.

Ask your friend Gom. The rules don't apply to him.

Actually, Dipre, you are correct here. It is the fault of the system.

The Yankees buy their championships more than any other team. This is indisputable. Followed, in this last decade, by the Red Sox.

It's not just payroll. It's scouting as well. Is it really a surprise that the some of the best international stars are on the big market teams?

Where would Arnoldis Chapman go if he was eligible for the draft? What about Matsui or Matsuzaka? Smaller market teams cannot compete evenly. This has been the case since baseball began.

The Yankees did what they were supposed to do. Win within the rules. The problem isn't the Yankees, it is the system. Since my team benefits, personally, I do NOT want to see it change. Selfish? Yes. Fair play? Not really? Do I care? No.

At least I'm honest. However, what grates on any sensible Yankee fan's sensibilities is the majority of Red Sox Nation's blatant disregard of their own team doing the EXACT same thing, just to a lesser degree.

It's always been hard to read anything you post. WS 27 has brought back out the worst in you....chill out, calm down and stfu.

where exactly did this come from? I have barely been on the site since WS #27 so I am not sure you are directing this at the right person. If you are truly directing this at me, then you are just flat out wrong. My posting has been way down, so if that's the worst of me, then I can try and pick up the posting, if you will?

friend? Have you seen some of our fights? We just happen to be happy that our team won the WS. I am just happy that it happened with the current hierarchy in place so he can eat it.

BTW, this is just the tip of the iceberg. This new facility is becoming a cash cow and they finally get a reprieve from profit sharing. They also have been hemorrhaging funds into their minor leagues and are starting to build from within enough to fill some holes internally and buy enough draft and INTL FA depth to be relevant in the trade market again. Their minor league system is already a top 10 system at this juncture. In a yr, they will be in the top 3-5 assuming they do what they did last yr (strong draft then pick their favorite INTL FA and sign him for big money).

If you thought the yankees were buying baseball championships, you will be blown away by their capability over the next 5-10 yrs.

So Jacko, seeing as you have been absent from the discussions, as a Yankee fan, does that bother you?

We have had some good ones, haven't we?

Jacko, you have to admit...he followed my game plan pretty well, and even better than I thought since he got Tex. [Goodness, I can be arrogant...whoever thought that...me being a Yankee fan and all].

However, last year was easy. This year is much tougher. I won't argue with success, unlike Dipre, I know it's a losing proposition, but let's see what he does this off-season. Sadly, we are pretty much in agreement on their moves, so it looks like our classic fights will stay that..classic.

Personally, Jacko, I think he made a huge error in not getting Santana. We both want Lackey, but when you think about it would you rather have Lackey, Melky, and Kennedy or Santana? Because from a major league standpoint, that's what we would have lost, and the salaries are a wash for the most part.

Anyways, last off-season was the easiest. Next one will be he hardest, with 2011 right up there, and maybe even tougher. If he wins it again next year, in my book, all is forgiven and I'm on his bandwagon.

Two points:

I still think we should have made the deal of Hilligoss, Marquez, Kennedy and Cabrera. Even Jacko pretty much agreed to that when he saw that, but that was before your time here Dipre...

Secondly, I'll gladly eat crow if the Yankees win championships. I really can't lose here.

I always said his plan was good, I just didn't like him implementing it. He took over Michael's plan. How he drafts, how he trades, makes a big difference. Signing a check means less....

However, championships mean the most. He got one, and this one is his. The others belonged to the one's before him.

I'll shut my mouth on this then.

That deal should have been made.

It is important to note that if the Yankees had acquired Santana, you cannot realistically expect that they would have also signed Sabathia. I know I might get some responses from Red Sox fans about the Yankees' unlimited resources, but there is no way they would have gotten both. So, when you ask, who would you have, it should be Sabathia, Melky, and Kennedy or Santana.

Please tell me why not?

Aren't the Yankees supposedly in for Lackey? What would have been the difference?

The money it will take to get Lackey is not the money it would have taken to bring in Santana, and it's not the money it took to bring in Sabathia. There is just no way you could possibly think that they would sign Sabathia to a long term deal, a year after signing Santana to a long term deal. There is no way that even the Yankees would tie up that much money in two pitchers, over that long a period of time.

They could've signed Santana and Sabathia while passing on Burnett.

Hell, i'm pretty sure they would have done it.

I'm going to throw up saying this, but Dipre is correct in this thread...again.

Don't believe all the spin. Think for yourself.

I completely disagree. The money it took to get Burnett is not even close to what it would have taken to get Santana. I don't see how that comparison can exist. This is obviously conjecture on my part, but I don't see it.

I am thinking for myself. I don't think there is even a remote possibility that the Yankees would have ended up with both of them. Again, it's nothing but conjecture on my part, but it's also nothing by conjecture on my part. We both have our opinions, and, clearly, neither is going to change. We'll never know.

Dipre isn't saying that you get Santana with Burnett money. He's saying you give Sabathia Burnett's roster spot. Obviously, you're the Yankees, you plunk $20M AAV contracts down on everyone and their dog, so finding the money for Johan freaking Santana is not going to be hard.

How much are they paying Burnett again?

I know what he's saying. I just don't think they would do that. They spent all that money on Sabathia because they felt like they needed an ace. If Santana was already a Yankee, I think they would feel like the ace role is filled, and I think they would be content to just go after Burnett and Teixeira.

I think one of the main reasons why they didn't trade for Santana is because they had their eye on Sabathia.

And Cashman is trying to re-implement Michael's plan. You truly have no idea how big of a change the yankee farm has undergone. It went from the worst farm system in the game when we were trying to get RJ to now one of the top 10 in the game. And in a yr, I expect they will be top 5. That is how you build a dynasty. Anyone can win one with a hot year. But the perpetual inflow of talent on the trade, FA and minor league market keeps your franchise alive and can potentially lead to a dynasty. Hughes, Joba, Robertson and the like is just the beginning. The position players are coming soon and there are a lot more really solid pitching prospects in the wings. In a yr, you will see just how strong this farm system is. But it has taken awhile to build.

Thats complete and utter ********. the 2 best pitchers on the market as well as the best position player on the market all signed with the yankees.

due to their failures this century theres no f***ing way on Gods green earth that they wouldnt have went all in for these guys based on their past 9 years of drought with or without santana in my opinion.

They always always always made a move on the best players available and always have since they got Don Gullet, Rawly Eastwick and Will Mcinearny from the Reds team that swept them 4-0 in 76 and Reggie Jackson, Ken Holtzman and Jim Catfish Hunter from the A's and Charles O Finley. This year due to them winning and the market being sort of dry of studs they may sit back and watch rather than give say John Lackey 100M but they will be bidding on the kid from Cuba if for no other reason that to make Theo puke in his sleep.

This years team still has the remnants of the Yankee teams from the 90s that were built by Gene Michael while the senile f***bag with the hockey helmet and his 2 retarded kids were in sabbatical...Jetsey Posada Petitte and Rivera all were pivotal in them winning and the other home grown young guys like Joba and Cabrerra chipped in as well.

It was hard to hate that team as much as it pains me to admit it.

Even now I find it rather difficult to hate Mariano Rivera, a man who in my opinion deserves to be called the best Yankee ever, nobody has done more for that franchise with the possible exception of Babe Ruth but if Im not mistaken Ruth won more titles in Boston than he did in NY.
