The Yankees' biggest problem all year has been pitch selection, so why should it change?

Throwing the run back two seamer on 1-2 to Rollins is a ridiculously bad selection, and they refuse to pitch Utley inside.

Last night, during his second AB, CC finally decided to go in on Utley with two straight fastballs. He popped up to second. When you keep going away, you allow him to extend his arms, and that's when you get beat.

I really don't think Victorino ever made an attempt to pull his bat back. He obviously never intended to actually bunt the ball, but even if it's kept out for self-defense, it's still an offer at the ball.

molina got hit with the bat i think he was pulling back and when his hand got hit it pushed the bat back out.

It really bothers me that Molina is catching this game. First off, the only time AJ really pitched great was game two of the World Series. While he had decent lines in game two of the ALDS and game two of the ALCS, he was up and down over the course of the game, and benefitted from a great deal of luck (especially in the ALDS). He also pitched poorly in game five of the ALCS.

That certainly does not justify the decision to leave Molina in there. Considering Matsui is out of the lineup, along with Melky, the Yankees lineup is already hurting enough. If you couple that with the fact that Teixeria and Cano both look lost at the plate, the Yankees need all the offense they can get. Taking out their number five hitter, who is coming off a big hit last night, is a bad move.

I don't know how the 86 Sox could be the biggest WS Choke when the 68 Cards blew a 3 - 1 lead in games. I don't think they were the only team to blow a 3 to 1 lead. The 86 Sox were the underdog in that WS and they didn't have a 3-1 lead in games. The Mets were big favorites and the vastly superior team. It's hard to be accused of choking when you are the underdog and the inferior team. The Yanks were more than 2 to 1 favorites at the beginning of this Series.

The '86 Sox might have been underdogs, but they were one out away from clinching with a 3-2 lead.

They already decided to put Pena on the roster.

It makes sense to put out the lesser lineup when facing the Phillie's ace, Cliff Lee.

Having Sabathia, Posada, and Melky over them didn't make a difference in Game 1

The pena decision makes no sense to me. You're replacing an outfielder with an infielder. Not to mention, Gardner; who is our late inning pinch runner, has to replace Melky in the lineup. Wouldn't it make sense to replace Gardner on the bench with another speedy outfielder who can pinch-run late in games?

That was the dumbest point I've ever seen somebody make. Just because our top lineup didnt hit the guy too well in game 1, our chances are improved now that we have an inferior lineup out there?

Gom, come on, you cannot act like this is a sure thing. I would admit, the argument to start Molina has some merit, but so does the argument to start Posada.

Well according to divinity, it makes more sense to put this lineup out there.

It really is unbelievable that they refuse to pitch Utley inside.

EDIT: He is so comfortable up there, knowing that they're going to throw every pitch away. They have very little chance to get him out that way.

he stands really close to the plate but his really quick hands still makes him dangerous if he times it right.

You can't get a hitter like Utley out if you try to only throw it to one spot.

It's not about where he stands.

You cannot eliminate an area of the plate against a hitter as good as Utley.
