Swisher is killing the Yankees. Even after his XBH earlier, he looks absolutely lost at the plate.

Reverse f***ing lock.

Big run there, but that was a nice play by Ruiz to save another. Now, the Yankees are in a situation where people other than Rivera are going to face the Phillies' best hitters. Tough spot for whoever comes in.

I think the Phillies need a couple rainouts to win this series. Tomorrow should be a blowout against Bubble Ass Blanton. If the game gets rained out, Lee would face off against CC on Monday. That would give them a fighting chance.

I guess it won't be Phillies in 5 games

LOL @ "J-Roll"

That moron.

And he's done NOTHING in this World Series. He reminds me of that other bigmouth (that Rollins is friends with by the way), Torii Hunter.

It must suck knowing that the bridge to Mariano is total dogshit.

Hughes made a mistake, but I don't know why you would choose to say that tonight. Joba was decent and Marte was really good.

If you believe Charlie Manuel, these umpires are really ridiculous. Apparently they told Charlie after the A-Rod home run that they discussed the camera before the game, and decided that any ball that hit it would be a home run. However, according to Charlie, they never informed the Phillies of that prior to the game. That's pretty ridiculous.

Let's face it.

It's hard to compete with the Yankees when they buy all three of CC Sabathia, AJ Burnett and Mark Teixeira AND open a stadium this year heavily payed for by taxpayers.

This is the most store-bought team I can recall in ages. People whined about the Yankees in the late 90's, but I didn't see what was so unlikeable about how the Yankees operated back then. Sure, we later found out a number of them were on drugs (HGH, Roids, etc.); but so was much of baseball. Those Yankees were built on the essential pieces being from the farm.

They were nothing like this Yankees team that wasn't even in postseason last year and could never be without purchasing Sabathia, Burnett and Teixeira... lord, they were definitely put together to buy it this year. God bless the NFL.

Why is a team more likeable if it builds from its farm system? I just don't understand that. You are right that it is very hard to compete with a good team that goes out and signs three top studs. The Red Sox need to add a couple of major pieces if they want to compete with the Yankees.

Hell, I wanted them to go out and get Halladay at the deadline.

It's just Yankee hatred.. but if it was "really good" then why would Mariano be summoned in a game that Girardi probably would rather have not used him in?

I said Marte was really good. They're not going to extend Marte to face only right handed hitters. As for going to Rivera, it's game three of the World Series, he should have went to him to start the inning.

Hell' date=' I wanted them to go out and get Halladay at the deadline.[/quote']Don't get me started. Five years of Buchholz is better than 1 1/2 years of Halladay or Cliff Lee.;) So what that Halladay or Lee could win a Championship or two for the Sox, and Buchholz severely damaged the Red Sox bid for a Division title and World Championship in 2008. He's the goods. We should never ever trade him for a Cy young winner.

Haha, you stick to your guns, no matter how many times you have to argue the point.

For me, it doesn't matter who is getting the job done. It could be home grown players, international signings, free agents, trades, whatever. In the end, as long as they're good players, I don't care at all. I also don't care how much my team spends (I know, very convenient for a Yankee fan to feel that way). If it means winning ball games, and hopefully championships, I'm all for it.

I feel the same way, and I tire of all the internet GMs that debate the finances of moves.
